Apologies is this already got looked at, I did a search to check! My friend reminded me of this today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdnBW_2gOuoThe context is that Swedish fans were getting clamped down on for being too rowdy, for using flares, for standing during matches. So during the biggest derby game, the fans went completely silent for the first 10 minutes. This video shows what happened when those 10 minutes finished Amazing scenes, never seen anything quite like it!

As I tried to show you a couple of years ago, those matches between AIK and Djurgården are amazing when it comes to tifos and singing! This protest was also superbly organized. And I'll repost those old links just because I think they are so fantastic...though the incredible about the above is of course the splendid cooperation between two sets of fans who are at least as bitter enemies as QPR and Chelsea fans! From 2007 I think, tifo starts at 2.25 www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_nS4DvB8i8Also, this is by far the best song any swedish team has, IFK Gothenburg: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVI1QGt17W0Also from a derby...The funny thing about this is, it is a new stadium and the fans of IFK jumps so much all the buildings surrounding the stadium shakes so they've had to rebuild part of the stadium. Now I'll shut up about swedish football

i prefer hammarby here's more on that game, www.thelocal.se/36242/20110920/Football fans stage silent derby protest Published: 20 Sep 11 08:05 CET | Double click on a word to get a translation Share 5 The Stockholm derby match between Djurgården and AIK began in deathly silence on Monday evening as fans from both sides staged a protest at all they consider to have gone wrong with game. Sweden secures Euro 2012 spot (12 Oct 11) Sweden secures Euro 2012 playoff spot (8 Oct 11) Sweden mourns sports legend Sven Tumba (2 Oct 11) For ten long minutes Råsunda football stadium in Solna held an eerie silence as the over 24,000 paying spectators from the bitter rival clubs sought to demonstrate the massive contribution fans make to football. AIK's supporters club Black Army explained the reasons behind the protest in a comment on their website: "The stands will be quiet in order to demonstrate the importance of a vibrant and positive terrace culture and to protest against those who want to hurt football and its audience." The Black Army identified a list of perceived threats to the game including "collective punishment" and "policy decisions which threaten the rule of law" which they argued displayed an "unacceptable attitude to Swedish supporters". The media are furthermore blamed for "distasteful headlines" and "general hunting of fans" and argued that Swedish football is threatened if "the footballing public continues to be seen as a problem instead of an asset". Once the ten minutes were up the match reverted to the cacophony of sound and chanting that is expected of a derby between clubs at opposite ends of the Allsvenskan table as the closing stages of the season approach. The first half took an unexpected turn as Kennedy Igboananike scored in the 20th minute to give Djurgården the lead. After the half-time break supporters from both teams showed a less savoury side of "terrace culture" in Swedish football when they lit a slew of firecrackers and flares, forcing the referee to interrupt the match and pull the teams off the pitch. The players remained in the changing-rooms for some seven minutes before resuming a hard fought battle that produced no further goals and left AIK's hopes of winning the championship effectively in tatters. For Djurgården the win was a huge step towards securing their top flight status for a further season and with fellow Stockholm club Hammarby languishing at the bottom of Swedish football's second tier, ensuring a Stockholm derby in 2012. Stockholm police reported that almost 90 supporters were detained in connection with the match with two arrested for aggravated assault.

Maud, Hammarby has excellent fans as well. Too bad they might even drop from the next highest division in Sweden this year, they are a shambles of a club at the moment (Myself I live in Ellos-town, that is Borås where the club is Elfsborg, but my swedish team is Örebro, where I grew up).

real shame about hammarby obk, my brother lives in osterbymo and him and his swedish mates who are all followers of hammarby come over once a season to watch prem football, this time i was able to take them to the newcastle game at LR.
The swedish are so passionate about their football, it sometimes get overlooked by the football media, great people, great supporters.

There are only a few teams off the top of my head who do anything close in this country, Accrington Stanley, Aldershot, Crystal Palace (pretty badly), Watford (really badly), Leicester (small group called the Fosse Boys who were fun, but got banned for persistent standing...), I think Wrexham used to do banner displays too. If anyone in R block is interested, me and a friend are looking to make and purchase a big 2-stick banner with a stencil of Warnock's face and "IWWT" under it if anyone wants a share! Also, what happened to the massive red "meet me by the railway track" banner with Sir Les on it in the Che Guevara pose?? I remember it got confiscated away somewhere because the stewards thought it was a hooligan invite!

Maybe a little orangey, but like you say, it's a great flag. It should get brought out more! I know they have the big England LSA flag too, but the Sir Les one is so, so good.
