If its to enhance the brand and reputation of the club internationally there are few players who would do that more quickly. If we are to grow and potentially justify a new stadium the odd "trophy player" will have to be part of that. Yes, if that's the plan I think I agree with you. Otherwise it is indeed a...hmmmmm What he said. I think it would be a major step towards our increased profile and the benefits would far outweigh the anything negative about such a move.

QPR make move for Beckham as new owner Fernandes ups the ante on Twitter By Sami Mokbel Last updated at 10:30 PM on 6th September 2011
QPR are ready to open talks with Beckham Queens Park Rangers have opened discussions over a sensational swoop for David Beckham.
New owner Tony Fernandes revealed his interest in the LA Galaxy midfielder on Twitter, posting: 'I think having someone like David [Beckham] in the club would be great. Was always in my thoughts. Let's see.'
And it seems Fernandes's vision of seeing Beckham in a Rangers shirt is more than just a pipe dream.
Loftus Road sources informed Sportsmail that there has already been initial contact between Rangers and Beckham's representatives over a potential move to west London.
The former Manchester United midfielder's current MLS contract expires in November, from which time he will be able to join another club on a free transfer.
American dream: Beckham's contract is up at the end of the MLS season Manager Neil Warnock has wasted no time in spending Fernandes and vice-chairman Amit Bhatia's millions since the pair replaced Bernie Ecclestone and his business adviser Flavio Briatore at the helm.
But while the arrivals of Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anton Ferdinand represent major coups for the newly promoted club - the capture of Beckham would surpass all those.
Fernandes, a world-renowned businessman, is said to have used his links from within global entertainment firm AEG - who own LA Galaxy - as one of his first points of contact when registering his interest in Beckham.
Splashing the cash: Warnock has has wasted no time spending Fernandes's money Warnock has given the thumbs up to the deal, with the QPR boss feeling Beckham still has plenty to offer on and off the pitch.
Fernandes is particularly keen to use Beckham in his effort to establish the QPR brand in Asia - a continent where the midfielder has legions of fans and where Fernandes has numerous business interests.
Sources close to Beckham last night claimed the former England captain would not be thinking about his future until his LA Galaxy contract expires.
But the 36-year-old will keep an open mind when considering his next move, while a return to his native London might suit Beckham and his family.

I was about half way through writing a reply about reporters picking up tweets and writing whole stories about them until I realised who it was that wrote this particular piece. This is the guy we took to Italy so it could possibly have legs.

I must add, I don't think we'll be alone in our interest and a relegation battle might not appeal to him.

What really started Chelsea on their surge to "Big Club" ** (UGGGH!) The Gullit signing in fair part. Have to agree.I saw Gullit train when they trained at Harlington (forgive me but it was within walking distance from my house and curiosity got the better of me .The strapping on his knees looked like a couple of basket balls(No spring chicken). But he did a job for them including attracting the likes of Vialli later on.

Having Beckham on board can be a double-edged sword.
If our owner wants to get a good quick strong foothold into the Malaysian and Far East market so therefore bringing money to the club, this is a sure fire way to do it.
This is something that will be absolutely necessary for us when FIFA fully implement the income equalling expenditure rules; by today’s standards our gate money doesn’t buy a row of beans, so from a business standpoint it makes good sense.
That’s the upside; the downside can be detrimental to the well being of the squad and ultimately to the Club.
Let’s not forget that overall it’s the Brand Beckham that’s being promoted not the Rangers.
We’ve never been a celebrity club, but with the training ground under constant siege, suddenly we’re being propelled into the world of Paparazzi with attention coming from all over the globe, it happened at Spurs last year and thankfully for them he wasn’t allowed to play.
This season above all it’s essential for the squad to maintain their focus for match preparation, this can easily fall apart with their attention being taken away with all that’s going on around them.
Beckham’s keen to maintain match practice because he holds out hope to be included in the Olympic squad, but now he’s just not good enough and it’s likely to be at the expense of our Premiership status, but after that he’ll just move on promoting more razors, hair gel and what else will make a buck.
Then there’s his God forsaken miserable looking ol’ woman posing wherever and whenever she sniffs out a camera, imagine it on match days with every camera pointing into the stands, we thought it was bad enough with Briatore’s hangers on !
HELP ME Please, I’m not a celebrity get me out of here.
What’s your thoughts on his possible inclusion in the squad.

www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/david-beckham/8747457/Queens-Park-Rangers-manager-Neil-Warnock-hints-at-David-Beckham-signing.htmlQueens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock hints at David Beckham signing Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock on Wednesday dropped the biggest hint yet that the Premier League side are chasing David Beckham. By Telegraph staff and agencies 4:11PM BST 07 Sep 2011 Newly promoted Rangers, who last month saw ambitious Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes become the majority shareholder, have since consistently been linked with Beckham, who plays for LA Galaxy. "About three weeks ago I would not have dreamed to sign Joey Barton so I will never write anything off," said Warnock, who has embellished his squad with several new players since Fernandes arrived at the London club. "The chairman Tony Fernandes has got such (an opinion)... why accept the average when you can reach for the top?" "That is how he is. It came out of the blue. I think anything is possible. He is a very astute businessman," Warnock said in a conference call with Malaysian media. Fernandes, the flamboyant head of fast-growing budget airline AirAsia, said in a tweet Tuesday: "I think having someone like David Beckham in the club would be great. Was always in my thoughts. Let's see." Midfielder Beckham, 36, has been linked with a host of English clubs. Queens Park Rangers have won one and lost two of their opening games, but have added French fullback Armand Traore, former England defender Luke Young and Barton, who arrived on a free from Newcastle United. "I think Tony realised that we do need to have some good players into the squad," said Warnock. "And we went about it and managed to get nearly every player we wanted. "It was hard work but the reward now is that we have a chance now of sustaining the position in the Premier League and taking the club forward."

there is about as much chance of beckham signing for us as there is of looking up at the moon and seeing someone there waving back at you, but if in the remotest chance it does happen then i would say why not? teddy sheringham and a few others still managed to play at this level past there 35th birthdays.
he is ultra professional and that would rub off onto other players, i hope it happens but cant see it.

excatly, giggs was given another year by manu, not as a token of the clubs appreciation, but cos fergurson knows he still has loads to offer, forget the brand beckham nonsense he is the ultimate pro, posh might have something to say about, but i reckon he loves the game that much he would play through the divisions given the chance.

ohwest, why forget brand beckham? as much as i hate it, it IS a great thing to have involved with your club.
even Real Madrid said that when they bought Becks, they were told "watch out for how much media attention you're gonna get" and they were all like "phhh... we're Real, innit", but then the press were all like "omg its David Beckham", and Real were like "wtf is this!!! so much mo fo media". and Becks was all like "I'm Becks, innit!".
told in the guise of a teen!

Countless stories re QPR, Beckham. What Warnock wants. What he doesnt want to talk about till Jan, etc. Spurs may beat us, etc.
And can argue the merits of signing him: What he contributes to the team. What he contributes to the club's image/ well-knowness around the world.
But just what Fernandes has done so far in the tweets: Brilliant boosting of QPR in the world press- in a POSITIVE way - which makes quite a change from the other stories which have gone viral.... And without costing QPR a penny (so far)

Beckham interests QPR But Loftus Road owner Fernandes admits any deal is a long way off
QPR remain keen to sign David Beckham, but Loftus Road chairman Tony Fernandes has admitted any prospective deal is a long way off.
The former England captain is coming to the end of his three-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy and a number of clubs are monitoring his situation.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is an admirer of the 36-year-old global icon, who trained with the White Hart Lane side in January, but a loan switch could not be agreed.
And ambitious new Rs owner Fernandes has confirmed that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder is in his thoughts, but that any audacious swoop is still some distance away.
Fernandes told Sky Sports News: "Let's see. It's early days. It is something that I think that would be good for the club.
"But we're a long, long way from anything."
Barton Fernandes' arrival in August gave manager Neil Warnock a late boost in the transfer window, with deals for the likes of Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anton Ferdinand completed.
The former Newcastle midfielder is poised to make his debut against his old club on Monday night, and the Rs supremo believes he is an excellent acquisition.
He said: "I think we need someone like him in the midfield. I think Joey has a lot to prove. He has got tremendous energy, tremendous drive, and I think someone like Neil can get the best out of him as well."
Fernandes admitted QPR tried and failed to land Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who eventually joined Sunderland on a season-long loan, but played down talk of interest in Peter Crouch, who left Spurs for Stoke.
He admitted: "We did have a go at Nicklas Bendtner, but it didn't work out. Time ran out against us. Peter Crouch, not so much, there was a little bit of talk."
And Warnock can expect to receive further backing in the January transfer window if the club's Premier League campaign is not going to plan.
Fernandes added: "This is a long-term project and we've got to do what we've got to do to survive and to grow this club. If need be, we will be there in January

i think rangers fans would have been on his back after a couple of non scoring games. only room for one.
