Good luck to him. Let's hope he does the job. He may not have a budget. But at least these seem like Warnock/not Briatore signings

EXCLUSIVE: R'S SWOOP FOR GABBIDON Posted on: Mon 25 Jul 2011Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of former West Ham defender and Wales international Danny Gabbidon. Gabbidon, who turns 32 in August, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Loftus Road, following the expiration of his deal with the Hammers. The centre-back brings a wealth of experience with him and made close to 100 Premier League appearances during his six-year stay at Upton Park. Gabbidon - who featured and impressed in all three matches on our recent tour of Cornwall - becomes Neil Warnock's third summer signing, following the captures of Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the R's gaffer said: "He's impressed me in the last 10 days or so that he's been training with us. "I think he's just the type of player we need - a quality defender with plenty of experience. "I hope I can reinvigorate his career, because a couple of years ago I thought he was one of the best defenders in the country." Gabbidon is included in QPR's squad for their tour of Italy and, shortly before setting off to London Gatwick ahead of a two-hour flight later today (Monday), he told http://www.qpr.co.uk: "I'm delighted to be here. "It's a good Club. Hopefully I can learn more about it in the coming weeks. "I had a good week with the lads in Cornwall and I'm pleased to have signed. "My agent spoke to the Manager and he said to come down and train for a week. It went from there. "He was a big part in me joining the Club. I've been quite impressed by him. "He's straight talking, which I like. If you're doing something right I think he'll be the first to tell you and, if you're not, he'll be the first to tell you again. "As a player, that's what you want. I was impressed with what he had to say about the Club and what he wants to do this season. "I think we can do well. The lads showed last season that they're already confident and hungry to do well in the Premier League." Gabbidon added: "Hopefully I can bring experience to the table having played in the Premier League for a number of years. "I know the ins and outs of the league, and what's required. "There are a lot of good players here already but hopefully, with my ability, I can add something to the team." *The deal is subject to the approval of the relevant paperwork by the FA and Premier League. www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2400985,00.html QPR OFFICIAL SITE
DANNY GABBIDON: IN PROFILEA talented defender with undoubted ability, Danny Gabbidon will be hoping to make his mark at Loftus Road ahead of the R's return to the Premier League. West Ham's Player of the Year for 2005/06, Gabbidon has suffered cruel luck with injuries in recent seasons. However, on his day, the centre-back is one of the finest defenders around. Gabbidon's consistent performances impressed during his six-year stay with the Irons, following a move from Cardiff City. At international level, Gabbidon is approaching 50 senior caps for his country, having excelled for Wales since making his debut in the spring of 2002. The able stopper was with West Bromwich Albion as a trainee and made his First Team debut for the Baggies against Ipswich Town in March 1999. After clocking up 27 appearances for West Brom, Gabbidon joined Cardiff on loan in August 2000, making the move permanent for a reported £175,000 fee the following month. During Gabbidon's successful spell with the Bluebirds, he helped Cardiff reach the Division Two Play-Off Semi Finals in 2001/02, before gaining promotion to Division One via the Play-Offs in 2002/03 - incidentally against QPR in a 1-0 Final win for the Bluebirds at the Millennium Stadium. Named in the 2003/04 PFA Division One Team of the Season, Gabbidon would make over 200 appearances in South Wales, scoring 10 goals, before moving to East London. Gabbidon made his West Ham debut in a 3-1 home win against Blackburn Rovers in August 2005 and, in just his first season with the Club, was voted Player of the Year following a series of outstanding displays in the Hammers rearguard. Despite experiencing the odd blip with injuries, Gabbidon largely excelled during his time with the Irons. Last term, he enjoyed an injury-free campaign and made 27 appearances in all competitions, passing the 100-appearance mark for West Ham. www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2401108,00.html

Mail QPR strengthen defence with Gabbidon capture as Warnock eyes more recruits Queens Park Rangers wrapped up the signing of Wales defender Danny Gabbidon on a 12 month contract and manager Neil Warnock is now weighing up a move for Brazilian centre-back Bruno Perone, 24.Gabbidon and Perone have flown to Milano Marittima for the club's six-day training camp. P erone, who spent part of last season at Spanish club Xerez, holds a dual Italian/Brazilian nationality so would not face work permit issues. Rangers are also ready to offer former Ipswich goalkeeper BrIan Murphy a two year deal after he impressed on trial. Warnock also hopes that Blackpool striker DJ Campbell can fly over to Italy this week to finalise his protracted £1.25million move. Warnock said last week that the deal had collapsed over personal terms, but the west London club have since resurrected the move. Can someone tell me why Ramage and Shittu were re-signed, with all this interest in C/Bs?

Ramage might make sense cos he's here; he can play full back, etc. I was surprised he's not on the Italy tour.
Shittu is more strange, I'd have thought. As a back up to a back up, ok...

Spanish Wikipedia article on Bruno (translated):
Caldini Bruno Perone ( São Paulo , Brazil , July 6, 1987), footballer Spanish . Play as a defense and his current team is Xerez CD in Segunda División in Spain .
It is a footballer who plays central defender and played out the ball well, so it has also played in the defensive midfield position.
Bruno Perone is a Brazilian central has an Italian passport. 1 Right on ball handling, thanks to its height is a player who clearly dominates the air. It also has good ball control, characterized by the good start of the ball from the center of defense. 2 The player is on loan from Tombense, who owns his rights, although in 2009 he played for FC Mirassol First Division Paulista. In the previous two campaigns was in the Figueirense FC, the first in the Brazilian first division. The player faces the challenge of playing for the first time in Europe and prove he is a player with projection.

Yes, agree, he gets some advantage, although Danny might work late in match when he needs to stuff the lineup with backs to save a result. Taht is if he doesnt breakdown again.
