A trialist's stunning 30-yard second half free-kick handed QPR a 1-0 victory in their first fixture of the 2011/12 pre-season campaign.
A match full of energy, there were chances aplenty and R's boss Neil Warnock will no doubt be pleased with the stern work-out that hosts Harrow Borough handed Rangers.
The trialist clinched victory for the R's on 62 minutes, with his beautifully-struck effort leaving Boro keeper Nick Jupp with no chance.
Radek Cerny was in goal for QPR, behind a back four of Bradley Orr, Fitz Hall, a trialist and Clint Hill.
Shaun Derry and skipper for the night Alejandro Faurlin were in defensive midfield.
Danny Webber, Petter Vaagan Moen and Tommy Smith operated just behind Heidar Helguson in attack.
Harrow - to their credit - started the brighter, with Evandro Delgado forcing a smart stop from Cerny from 18 yards, before Jonathan Constant fired just over the bar from a similar distance.
The R's were soon on the attack themselves.
Webber's cutting pass freed Vaagan Moen, before Boro defender Danny Leech just got back in time to block the Norwegian midfielder's shot over the bar for a corner kick.
But Harrow soon went close again.
A trialist conceded a free-kick out wide on the right and, when Constant's shot was deflected back into the path of David Ijaha 18-yards out, his stinging shot was well held by Cerny.
And the Czech keeper was soon called into action twice more, producing comfortable saves after efforts from Danny McGonigle and Delgado.
The R's went within a whisker on the half-hour mark, with Vaagan Moen's rasping drive on the half volley from 20-yards out only just clearing the bar.
Hall missed arguably the chance of the half to find the net as the break approached.
Vaagan Moen's teasing corner found the imposing stopper unmarked six yards from goal, but Hall could only direct his header on to the foot of the back post, before the ball trickled away to safety.
And Smith also went close on the stroke of half-time, with his curling effort from 20 yards whistling just past the right-hand post.
The hosts forced a fine save from Cerny in first-half stoppage time, with Kurt Morlese's effort from a Constant cross superbly tipped wide by the Rangers keeper.
QPR made a whole host of second-half changes, with only Cerny, Orr, Vaagan Moen and Webber surviving the cull.
The R's started the second half on the front foot - going close twice early on.
Webber and the newly-introduced Patrick Agyemang combined passes and, when the latter drove to the edge of the box, his subsequent effort forced a fantastic diving save by Boro shot-stopper Jupp.
Moments later, a Rob Hulse effort also forced a routine stop from the Harrow keeper.
Rangers looked more threatening in the second period - and duly took the lead on 62 minutes.
When the R's won a free-kick 25 yards from goal, a trialist stepped up to fire home an unstoppable effort, leaving Jupp with no chance.
Soon after, QPR pressed for a second. An effort from substitute Hulse forced the Harrow keeper into a brilliant save, as Jupp tipped the ball away for a corner.
Rangers then twice went close again from as many corners.
Danny Shittu's header from a Vaagan Moen cross from the right just missed the target, before a Hogan Ephraim centre from the same side found Agyemang just inside the box, whose swiped effort fizzed over the bar.
Ephraim was then involved again, with his cross almost headed into the net by a Harrow defender, as Jupp dived to his right to superbly tip the ball to safety.
