Cheltenham Town players will fund bus to Lincoln City
Cheltenham Town's players are to fund a supporters coach for the away game at Lincoln City on Easter Monday.
The decision comes after Saturday's 8-1 defeat at Crewe in League Two.
In a statement to the club website, the players said: "We appreciate the cost, commitment and effort of being a fan. We also understand we let you down.
"By way of an apology, we would like to pay for a supporters coach to Lincoln. We will do everything to achieve better results in the remaining games."
One hundred and seventy one fans made the trip to Gresty Road, and priority for the double decker bus, which has 78 seats, will be given to supporters who witnessed the worst result in 42 years.
Cheltenham Paul Baker told BBC Gloucestershire: "We want to try and get some positivity around the club between now and the end of the season.
"We have appointed John Murphy (former player and manager) to the board of directors, and we're looking to offer contracts to a couple of players in the next week or so who the fans would like to see here next season.
"It's important when we are launching season tickets in the next few weeks that we give fans a positive message."

Statement from the playersPosted on: Tue 05 Apr 2011
Cheltenham Town's players have issued a public apology to the club's supporters following Saturday's 8-1 defeat at Crewe Alexandra.
The result was the club's heaviest defeat in a league match since 1992 and the first time Cheltenham Town have conceded eight goals since 1969. The players held a meeting yesterday and have offered to pay the cost of a double-decker supporters coach to the away match at Lincoln City on Monday 25 April as a gesture to the fans.
A full statement from the players reads as follows:
"Following the result and performance against Crewe last weekend, we the players felt we could not let the week pass without making some sort of public comment.
"As a group on Monday morning we held a meeting and decided by way of an apology for the performance on Saturday we would like to pay for the cost of the supporters coach to Lincoln on 25 April.
"We understand and appreciate the effort, cost and committment involved in being a supporter of Cheltenham Town Football Club and are grateful for the commitment that you all make every week. We also understand on Saturday we let you all down and for that we apologise unreservedly.
"Thank you for your continued support and we will do everything we can to achieve much better results and performances in the remaining games of the season."
Supporters wishing to take advantage of the free coach travel to Lincoln should contact the ticket office as soon as possible. Priority will be given to those supporters who travelled to Crewe and remaining places will then be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
