Of course, it was not 1972 when Don Masson Joined QPR. PFA Give Me Football On This Day = 1972 Jack Dunnett, Notts County chairman, announces: “Football at Meadow Lane will collapse unless we have more money. That is why we are prepared to sell Don Masson.” Don is subsequently sold to Queens Park Rangers for £100,000. Don recalled: "It was fantastic for me to join QPR. I wasn't bothered about money or anything. I just wanted the opportunity to show that I could play at that level. I can remember travelling down to London with my Notts County boss Jimmy Sirrel to complete the transfer. “Jimmy said beforehand 'make sure you don't sign when you go in there’. But as soon as I saw the Rangers’ manager Dave Sexton and he told me what his plans for the club were, I shook hands on the deal straight away. "Then, when we were going back to Nottingham on the train afterwards, Jimmy Sirrel said '’what did you sign for little fellow? I could have got Southampton - they were in for you. And Don Revie at Leeds United wanted you, too.” A stylish and creative midfielder renowned for brilliant passing, Don remains a legend at County where there is a Don Masson Suite and a Don Masson Trophy awarded at the Notts County Youth Tournament. www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/on-this-day-in-history-october-26-(1)

It is tough to think of a better pure passer from that era than him or Leeds' Giles.......any thoughts gents?
Liam Brady perhaps in that bracket.
