Tigers look to take Hart
Former Pompey and Palace boss favourite for KC Stadium role
Last updated: 2nd June 2010
Paul Hart has emerged as the favourite to be handed the task of guiding Hull City back to the Premier League, Sky Sports understands.
The former Portsmouth and Crystal Palace manager looks set to move to the KC Stadium having helped the Eagles avoid relegation to League One despite suffering a 10-point deduction for entering administration.
Hart would inherit a side back in the Championship after a two-year spell in England's elite league but facing cuts to the playing staff as they bid to reduce worrying debts.
Former manager Phil Brown is poised to agree a severance package with Hull having been placed on gardening leave in March, with replacement Iain Dowie unable to stave off the drop.
Dowie previously admitted he was eager to be handed the reins on a full-time basis, but it appears chairman Adam Pearson has elected to look elsewhere.
Moved
The 57-year-old Hart began his managerial career with Chesterfield, before spells with Nottingham Forest and Barnsley.
He helped Pompey climb away from relegation danger at the end of the 2008/09 season having been brought in following Tony Adams' ill-fated reign, but was relieved of his duties in November.
A five-game spell at Queens Park Rangers followed, before he moved across London to Selhurst Park to replace Neil Warnock - who ironically filled the Loftus Road hotseat - and saw Palace beat the drop on the final day of the season.
It is expected Hart's next quest will see him looking to steady the ship with Hull following their relegation, with several star names expected to move on this summer as they look to balance the books.
