Just passed away. Saw Fred play for QPR 1944-1948. Played 56 matches scored 26 goals as centre forward. He was 89. Reported as QPRs oldest living player, which may not be correct as I thought, Sir Ivor was still with us. Should be about 92. Sir Ivor played for and against Sir Stanley Matthews. As far as I know, Sir Ivor is 93 so must be our oldest player.
Sadly didn't see either play, but have met Ivor a couple of times....

Brentford Official Site FRED DURRANT RIP Posted on: Sat 06 Mar 2010 Brentford Football Club are saddened by the news that Fred Durrant passed away Friday afternoon, aged 88. He was the club's oldest living former player. Signed in 1939 by Harry Curtis from Folkestone Town, Fred made four appearances in the 1946-1947 First Division season, scoring three goals after making many war-time appearances - including four goals in six FA Cup appearances in the transitional season of 1945-1946. He was transferred to QPR in that season and also played for Exeter City and Dover before running a cafe in the town until his retirement. www.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10421~1985811,00.html

I had these books, then stopped buying or they were discontinue, anyway I was never a collector and tended to get rid of things unfortunately. But a great find, but not sure the 35 quid for a sixpenny bit would fit our present budget.
I did keep programmes from the 1948 olympics, and when I can find time and budget a scanner, will put them on.
