QPR have agreed terms with versatile defender John Curtis.
The 28 year-old, who was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, passed a medical and agreed a two year deal at Harlington this evening.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Curtis, who began his career at Manchester United, expressed his delight at the move: "I'm delighted to be here.
"The move only really materialised in the last 48 hours or so. DC (Danny Cullip) gave the gaffer my number and it's taken off since then really.
"We had a very positive meeting on Thursday and I was very impressed by what John had to say. He's clearly determined to move the Club forward and I'm delighted to be part of it.
"Hopefully, I can nail down a regular spot in the side. I've been promoted from this division before and also lost out in a couple of play-off finals, so I can't wait to get started.''
A former England Under-21 international defender, Curtis - who is capable of playing in a number of positions - lists Premiership duo Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth amongst his former Clubs.
Manager John Gregory spoke in glowing terms of the R's new signing, commenting: "I'm delighted to have someone of his experience and ability joining us.
"I've done my homework on him. He's a fantastic lad, a great professional and I'm sure he'll be an instant favourite with our supporters.
"He's a very versatile player and will give us great options in a variety of positions.''
Curtis will wear the vacant number 21 shirt. QPR

John Curtis began his career under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
He went on to make 19 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, before spending a season on loan at Barnsley.
His performances for the Tykes didn't go unnoticed though and in the summer of 2000, Blackburn Rovers boss Graeme Souness swooped to secure his services in a £150,000 transfer.
Curtis was an ever-present during his first campaign at Ewood Park, as Blackburn were promoted to the Premiership.
England Under-21 caps followed in due course, only for injury to limit his participation in season 2001/02 to just ten top-flight appearances.
He failed to regain his regular starting place, and spent the second half of the 2002/03 campaign on loan at Bramall Lane, the home of Sheffield United.
At the end of the season he was released by Blackburn and was immediately snapped up by Leicester City on a free transfer.
However, Curtis' spell with the Foxes was unsuccessful, and after making just 17 appearances, he was transferred to Portsmouth in February 2004.
After failing to win a regular starting place in the Pompey side, Curtis was loaned out to Preston North End at the start of the 2004/05 campaign.
In January 2005, Curtis was transferred on a free to Nottingham Forest, for whom he made 90 appearances in all competitions.

John Curtis on Briatore's QPR Talk-
John Curtis Icons Diary
The takeover of QPR football club has to be good news for everyone and we can now start to plan for the future knowing that we've got one.
Flavio Briatore came and spoke to us all the other day and I have to say that we were all very impressed by him. He's a tough character and made it clear how ambitious he was for the club.
He came in and said "I'm a winner and either you're winners too or you're not with me." He told us we were fortunate to have him because with him QPR was going places and that we could either join that journey or leave.
Basically he has succeeded in everything he has turned his hand to and he's not prepared to fail at anything – certainly not at running a football club. And we are committed to helping that success now.
The lads are really excited and want to be involved with what's happening here. This is a great club, with fantastic fans and it should be going places. We all believe we should be in the Premiership and now with what the new owners can bring that is possible.
I'm sure the fans are happy and relieved because they have suffered with all the uncertainties and now something concrete is happening and they don't have to worry about.
Of course it all has to start here and now on the pitch.....
But there is a new era beginning at the club and I'm sure we will all rise to the challenge and things will start picking up pretty soon. We know there is going to be money for new players, which we need. But we also know that means more competition and every player will be doing his best to prove he is worthy of a place.
Icons - John Curtis - October 17, 2007 Maybe we should win ugly
We're approaching the game against Ipswich this weekend with a lot of confidence after recording that first win of the season against Norwich. It was the ideal time to get the monkey off our backs, going into the break.
I watched the Norwich match from the stands and I thought it was a good performance. We battled hard in the first half and then upped the pressure a bit after the break.
It might not have been pretty but there are times when you just have to grind them out and when you haven't won all season that was one of those times. Perhaps there have been times this season when we could have done with being a bit ugly.
swich at home is exactly the sort of game that we need after that win and the break. They are a decent side, but in front of our own fans and with a bit of confidence in the side, we should record a win.
Overall we haven't played as well as we can, but we know that we have a good squad and on our day we can take anyone.
ve just had a run out with the reserves in a 1-0 win over Wycombe. The young lad Kieron St Aimie scored a great goal and showed why he is highly rated. It was a good chance to stretch my legs and get a run out. It was a strong reserve side as it also included Danny Cullip, Marcus Bignot, Zesh Rehman and Stefan Moore.
I'm a bit disappointed at not being in the first team at the moment and all I can do is keep working hard and try to force my way into contention.
Everything seems a bit up in the air right now because we're without a manager. Mick Harford has the reins at the moment and he knows what he's doing, but it's still all a bit unsettled because we simply don't know what is going to happen. It's a bit of a long process to find a boss, but obviously the board want to make sure they get the right man. Icons

JOHN CURTIS/ICONS I wish things had been different
Well, I'm finished at QPR which is a shame, but I see it as another challenge in my career and I'm strong enough to face it.
I'm obviously disappointed that things haven't worked out for me here because it is a great club, a fabulous place to be and it's been an honour being part of things.
Of course I wish I had been given more of a chance to prove what I could do at the club. I was only played in my proper position once in my time here and that makes it very difficult to impress.
I feel sure I could have contributed more if I had been given a chance, but that's all in the past now and there's never any point moaning. That's not my nature and I just want to crack on and find a role somewhere else.
I badly want to play football and believe I have a lot to offer any club that signs me. I've always believed in myself and my ability and that doesn't go away just because you haven't been given certain chances.
I'll be sorry to leave the club because, like I said, it's a great club. It's a massive club that doesn't deserve to be in the position it's in right now. They have massive aspirations and hopefully under the new owners they'll fulfil them.
They are a really good bunch of lads at QPR and it's sad to be saying goodbye to them. They have the ability and the spirit to get the club out of trouble. The fans are some of the best I have ever come across.
There has been so much change and transition at QPR that they now need some stability and if they can get that I'm sure they will be fine. Just as I'm sure I'll be fine to.
At least I'll now be able to spend time with my family at Christmas and that will be nice. Cheers and happy Christmas. Icons
