Chant investigation continues PA Chelsea continue investigation (UKPA) – Chelsea are "continuing" their investigations into the offensive chanting that took place during their game against Genk last week. The incidents happened during the Blues` Champions League tie with the Belgian side at the Cristal Arena, and co-incided with the ongoing police and Football Association investigations into the race row between captain John Terry and QPR`s Anton Ferdinand. A statement read: "Chelsea Football Club is continuing the investigation into identifying fans who participated in offensive chanting during our Champions League game against Genk." Some of the Chelsea's travelling contingent were clearly heard singing, "Anton Ferdinand, you know what you are", although the match officials did not include any mention of it in their reports. The statement added: "The club has been working closely with the police and Genk authorities, and all available footage of the relevant areas of the stadium is being tracked down to determine those who took part. "The methods we employ to identify individuals or groups engaging in this offensive practice are kept under continual review, as are technological advancements that may afford us a greater degree of accuracy in identifying offenders in the future. "Chelsea FC is committed to stamping out all forms of discrimination and if we are provided with sufficient evidence that season-ticket holders or members have been involved in such activity we will take the strongest possible action, including supporting criminal prosecution. "A number of people have been banned from Stamford Bridge and prosecuted for racist behaviour in the past and we won't hesitate to act in this way again." The club have also set up a dedicated telephone number for anyone with information to call. www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5iPLt8lUWFtWx0yhXkPx75S_nN_Cw?docId=N0561151320863126171A

Just PR. They won't do anything.
Remember this is the club that doesn't take action against their fans for singing Auschwitz songs.

Unhappy Kick It Out chairman ready to quit over John Terry . The chairman of the Kick It Out campaign is ready to stand down over the John Terry controversy. And the FA has also been savaged by its own Race Equality Advisory Group (REAG), who claim they have not been consulted over the row involving the England captain. Lord Hermann Ouseley has been chairman of the Kick It Out campaign since 1993 but he has become disillusioned at developments over the last two weeks. And Lord Ouseley has told friends he is ready to wash his hands of the FA after receiving scathing criticism from fans, even though he is not involved in the decision-making process. He said: “It is a disgrace that I have been abused and vilified over something I have no input and no control. I will listen to the advice of people I admire and respect and I will see how this investigation pans out. “But it is safe to say that I am not happy at the moment.” The FA have also been criticised by REAG who are angry that they have been left out of the loop on exactly the kind of issue they should be involved in. The FA contend that REAG were informed after Terry had been called up by Fabio Capello for the Spain friendly and that any other matters are subject to an investigation both by them and the police. But a REAG source said last night: “We feel we have been set up by the FA just to tick a box. “What’s the point of having us here if, when a situation emerges that we could give some input on, nobody talks to us?” The FA last night declined to comment on the issue. Bow, interesting comments, I actually do not think that, that attitude stinks at all. I do not actually know if John Terry is a low life rascist scum bag.scum bag he is(read my other comments on him), i don't know if he is racist though.Just because he said a few phrases in the heat of the moment. However in the bigger picture where does it all end? Very soon the thought police will be taking over the football fields as well, how are you going to get round that ? Soon other players interpretation of what other people have said on the pitch is going to be misconstrued, and add the fans baying for blood on top of that. Terry was out looking for trouble that day, he was picking rows with everyone.
Now lets move on and concentrate on the football.
cheers,
Jay.

As a matter of interest, What would Terrys punishment be? If the Sweet FA decide to act, isnt this the first case of its type.

England beat the world champions without Terry as captain, so why don't they wait u til the outcome of the police and FA investigations before considering him for captain again?!!

Super Ray Wilkins www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2011/11/14/2756781/former-chelsea-assistant-ray-wilkins-there-is-no-way-on-godsFormer Chelsea assistant Ray Wilkins: There is no way on God's planet that John Terry is racist With the furore currently engulfed around the England defender, the former assistant to Carlo Ancelotti has added his voice to those supporting the Blues skipper First Goal Scorer John Terry Bet: Returns: £210.00 William Hill Nov 14, 2011 2:45:00 PM By Alex Richards Former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins has leapt to the defence of John Terry, insisting that the England captain is not a racist. The defender is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Police over claims that he racially abused QPR's Anton Ferdinand during the Blues' recent 1-0 loss at Loftus Road. But Wilkins, who worked with Terry during his time at Stamford Bridge under Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti, is backing the Three Lions skipper. He told talkSPORT: “There is no way on God’s planet he is a racist, no way whatsoever. And I will back John 100 per cent. “I’ve no idea how this mess has arisen but I’m stating from what I know of the man he is not a racist. “I would think my view is shared by all of his colleagues at Chelsea. John is the captain of Chelsea and has been for years and it’s probably the most multi-cultural club in world football. “There’s no way he could lead those guys and look them in the face if he was a racist.â€

As predicted, Terry's press conference was full of "are you a racist" etc type questions.
Really can't understand why England are leaving Terry captain while this all hangs over his head.

I think Capello is making a mistake putting Terry in the spotlight, I actually felt sorry for Terry. Anyone would be proud to be England Captain, but to have your legs cut under you by cruel and ruthless journalists can't help his confidence much. If Lampard was Captain, Terry could just have resumed playing at the back with Lescott, without too much fuss. I thought Lescott played very well against Spain. Though Parker helped out a lot.

"Unfortunately I can't speak [about the incident]. We all understand that, what with the police and the FA. But, from across the world, people and players and managers have been on the phone and been very supportive of me. It's unfair to come out and talk about the individuals [who have], so I won't. But this is about being captain, coming out and facing up to it. As a player, it's important to deal with your ups and downs, which I have done throughout my career. But I'm fine, 100% no problems. Nothing's changed for me. It's been nice that the players have supported me, publicly and personally."
Bit of a win ,win situation for J.T there..Slimey C**t

That is just two of many words I would direct at him Oz but I don't think racist is one.
As Kilburn asks, I also wonder what actual offence he's committed. I've tried to find what law he would have broken but it's impossible to find anything appropriate but then I'm no legal eagle.
He's certainly guilty of saying something in the heat of the moment but what would he be charged with by the police? As I've said before, if the police take no action, what can the FA do? What will the FA do? Nothing, obviously.
Equally, if he is charged and proven guilty, again the FA will do nothing as the law will have acted. As we all know, breaking the law does not mean a footballer is not allowed to continue to ply his trade. Clearly not as captainm of his country but then what if the FA's opinion is different to mine?
I can also see wotno's point but it's impossible to ignore as it's in your face on every channel because he is captaining his and our country this evening!
I can see a very mixed reception for him this evening and I hope the fans make it clear that the FA's judgement is incredibly wide of the mark. Football is not above all else in life.

Just to add, I wonder if ITV will mute any Terry songs. ESPN did a good job of ensuring what was sung against citeh was not heard on TV!

Chelsea executive member accused of racially abusing Daniel Sturridge during Champions League game at Genk Sat in a exclusive £85-a-seat section, the supporter apparently referred to the forward as a "monkey" and joined in with chanting about QPR defender Anton FerdinandBy Sam Bisby Chelsea have begun an investigation into a complaint that striker Daniel Sturridge was racially abused by a fan during a Champions League match. The complaint has been made by an executive club member, with the fan insisting another loudly labelled Sturridge a "monkey" as the striker was preparing to come on as a substitute during Chelsea’s away game to Belgian side Genk. Chelsea are already probing, in partnership with the police and the Genk football authorities, chants from some Blues fans during the same game referring to Anton Ferdinand, the QPR player involved with the Metropolitan Police’s investigation into John Terry’s supposed use of racist language. The abuse aimed towards Sturridge came from the £85-a-seat section that was reserved for Chelsea’s sponsors, as well as the likes of British Airways chairman Martin Broughton and computer millionaire Peter Harrison, with The Daily Mail reporting that one such fan in the exclusive area supposedly shouting as the England forward was warming up: "They are bringing on the monkeys." This was enough for a fan sitting in the same section to make a formal complaint via email sent to Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay, with the abusive supporter also accused of joining in with the Ferdinand chants. A Chelsea spokesman said: “We have had a new complaint from a fan that we are taking very seriously indeed. We are carrying out an immediate investigation led by our head of security that is likely to involve the police as well. “We will not tolerate any form of racism and have encouraged our supporters to help identify those responsible and we will track them down www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2914/champions-league/2011/11/15/2757802/chelsea-executive-member-accused-of-racially-abusing-daniel

Liked the description of the fan. This so disgusted a Chelsea fan sitting nearby, who regularly travels abroad supporting the club, that he sent an email to chief executive Ron Gourlay protesting about the racist invective aimed at Sturridge from a well-dressed, middle-aged man, who also joined in the unacceptable Ferdinand chants.
Could be old Jason Marriner.( If you think Stone Island is well dressed)
