F****************
, October 19 - Former Renault Formula One boss Flavio Briatore is dreaming of luring ex-Italy coach Marcello Lippi to Queens Park Rangers if the London club are promoted to the Premier League.
Speaking to Italian magazine Chi, on the newsstands Wednesday, the flamboyant ex-F1 manager said: "We're top of the Championship (second division) and if we're promoted, I have a dream: Marcello Lippi".
Briatore owns 70% of QPR along with his friend, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, and recently said he wants no other interest in sport because he's enjoying bringing up his baby son Falco with ex-showgirl wife Elisabetta Gregoraci.
The reformed playboy, 60, was banned for life last year for the infamous 2008 Singapore Grand Prix 'Crashgate' but the ban was subsequently overturned and the media said he could have returned in a couple of years if he had wanted.
Lippi, 62, who won five Serie A titles and a Champions League trophy with Juventus before taking Italy to World Cup glory in Germany in 2006, has been out of work since the Azzurri's dismal showing at this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
The cigar-smoking 'Tuscan Tactician' was recently linked to a possible move to AS Roma as the Roman side got off to a poor start in Italy's top flight.

He's just using the club to create a what if situation to generate column inches in Italian newspapers. His public persona in Italy is far greater than here and he's been villified in the press recently thru his own actions of course and now seems to be on course to try to turn it round. It's just away of getting in the press to say he had his conviction overturned and he is a great dad despite previous reports of him being a cheat with little regard for others safety and quotes saying women should do everything when it comes to looking after your kids. He's a changed man!

Picked up by Daily Mail Queens Park Rangers money man Flavio Briatore wants Marcello Lippi for Premier League bid
By Sportsmail Reporter 19th October 2010Neil Warnock may have led Queens Park Rangers to the summit of the npower Championship - but shareholder Flavio Briatore is already dreaming of bringing World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi to the club. Briatore, who remains a significant investor at Loftus Road, was never slow to replace the manager before stepping down as chairman in February. And it seems the former Renault Formula One boss would be keen to make changes again if Warnock succeeds in getting Rangers promoted. 'If we were to get into the Premier League, I have a dream: Marcello Lippi as coach,' Briatore told Italian magazine Chi. Lippi, 62, has not taken a coaching job since leading Italy's disappointing defence of the World Cup at South Africa 2010. He had been tipped to take a strategic board role at Juventus. QPR are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship after 11 games without defeat - putting them four points ahead of Cardiff City. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1321898/Queens-Park-Rangers-shareholder-Flavio-Briatore-wants-Marcello-Lippi.html

A destructive individual imo. But he no longer is the Chairman. That is Ishan Sakseena who is the Holdings Chairman. . He has dreams. I think the rest of
the board are fully aware of where his dreams lead to.
Warnock need to talk to Amit right now or vice-versa and assured that this is fiction.

It's almost as if he does things deliberately to destabilise the club - we all know NW wants a crack at the Premier League, why would he say something like this......??

Yes. He has to bring things down to his own level of destabilisation.

The problem London is that Bhatia/Saksena may be nominally in charge...But if they don't own the majority of shares (and if Briatore/Ecclestone do), then it's exactly the views of Briatore that matter... ANd we know what he does. Cos we've seen it.
And in this case, don't even need for Briatore to go any further. He's already caused trouble.
The team may start feeling uncertain...Lose morale...And Warnock may act at once and quit...

He said he has a dream. He didn't say he's brining him in regardless. I wonder if he dreams of bringing in the whole Barcalona team coz I know I do! I also had a deam of a rather initimate evening with Elizabetta, doubt that'll be true either!

Well I hope your wrong Mike, but we still dont know the exact division of shares, and alsoWarnock knowing Briatore, i hope
mature enough to laugh this off. Im sure hes, worked for Nutters in his career, maybe not as bad as this one, still.
Lets hope for the best. But it just made the Daily Mail.

I'd say either Briatore is involved with QPR or he's not.
If he is, then the Lippi - or someone like Lippi will be exactly what Briatore will want...And the signing of players. He doesn't seem to learn from HIS OWN Mistakes....
So I'm more worried than just because Briatore is dreaming (or fantasysing - or having nightmares!),,,
And as I said: He doesn't have to do anything beyond words to cause unrest...and more.

Still a dream though.

I really think that your making a stink over nothing.
I'm sure Warnock is assured by the men who matter over his future at the club and Briatore will continue with this sort of thing in the Italian press to get his case across.
Forget about him. He'll turn up with the sycophant brigade when we're doing well, take the plaudits and put the prices up, but that's about it for now.
He's not worth getting worked up about in my opinion anymore.

I read Briatores Coke fueled statement with disbelief. I also understand why people hate him at the sub-atomic level and just when I thought he'd pissed off he surfaces again.
Seriously why make such a stupid statement and potentially damage the manager and teams moral when they are doing so well.

Maybe Briatore wonders why there was so much talk about Mittal. I wasn't sure whether Mittal had bought FB out or not, but I hadn't heard that he had, and if FB owns most of the shares, is it likely he'll consider anyone apart from himself to be important? Especially if: (a) QPR are bound for the Premier League (b) he - Briatore - acquired his majority shareholding acquired for next to nothing, so he stands to make a packet if he sells. (c) and especially if he is also be sceptical about Warnock. Personally, I doubt that many of the supporters who welcomed Briatore, Ecclestone, Mittal so enthusiastically at first would, at that time, have been much impressed to learn that, 3 years on, we only had Warnock. In fact, I can't remember any instance of any Rs supporter indicating a preference for Warnock at all, ever. Rather the reverse. But he is winning, so it is hardly surprising that our supporters are pleased about that. But it doesn't follow that Briatore will see that as a reflection of Warnock's talent. Maybe he noticed that he left Sheffield United when they were relegated, and left Palace when it didn't look like there would be much money to spend. And given that we encourage people like Briatore in their belief that having rich people around more or less IS success, Briatore might very well think the present good run has a lot more to do with the vast losses the Board is running up at the Club's expense to pay for it, than Warnock's efforts. In other words, the money. I must say, I am not QUITE so offended by Briatore as some. Being more offended by all the other slimy creeps who are no less arrogant, grasping and self-centred, but who are crafty enough to make out that they are anything but. Wolves in sheep's clothing therefore. But maybe FB just wanted to get the messageboards buzzing with his name again. It may not be very bright, but it doesn't follow that he is all that bright, and we can hardly say it is out of character .

Maybe it's not just because he might be nasty or greedy or interfering, etc. It's that he shown a certain level of competence (you decide the level) in the running of QPR...both financially, in appointments, in signings, in results...
And if Briatore truly is back and involved, it can't bode well for Warnock's future at the club (and that would be before Lippi was at the doorstep)...and QPR's prospects for promotion.
You can despise a Director or Chairman (or even a Sporting Director) and still acknowledge he's done a good job. But unfortunately, that would not be the case at Loftus Road.
