FLASHBACK TO JUNE 2008:
QPR Official Site - EXCLUSIVE: ARGENTINEAN ACE JOINS- Queens Park Rangers have swooped to clinch the signing of highly-rated Argentinean midfielder Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma.
- The 20 year-old attacker, who was born in Quilmes but has an Italian passport, has agreed a season-long loan deal with the R's and Rangers will have the option to buy the player for three million Euros at the end of his year-long stay in W12.
- The R's have beaten off stiff competition from a number of Serie A Club's for the youngster's signature, to the delight of First Team Coach Iain Dowie.
"It's a very exciting signing," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
"I went to watch him in Italy and although Genoa lost that particular fixture, he was the outstanding player on the pitch.
"He's incredibly creative and has exceptional ability on the ball. He can play across the front line and has a great range of passing.
- "He's one for the future, but technically he's ready now. He'll need time to adapt to the style of the English game, and the Championship in particular, but I'm very excited about him."
- Dowie praised the contribution of Chairman Flavio Briatore in his efforts to bring the player to West London, commenting: "We're very fortunate in that Flavio has good contacts in the Italian game and that has helped us tremendously to pull off this signing.
- "I'm ever so grateful to him and he's as excited as I am about this."
Flavio Briatore added: "I am extremely grateful to Mr Enrico Preziosi (the owner of Genoa) for giving QPR the opportunity to sign Emmanuel.
"He is a great, young talent and we are looking forward to welcoming him to QPR

"..."The powers-that-be want me to have a look at the lad – and that’s fine with me. But I do need to get other players in, so I hope that if Emmanuel does get invited to stay – it doesn’t affect our other plans."

QPR boss cautious over Ledesma return
EMMANUEL Ledesma is welcome back at QPR – providing boss Neil Warnock gets four more new players in the transfer window.
The 22-year-old Argentine midfielder was on loan at Loftus Road during the 2008/09 campaign and reportedly featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton on Monday afternoon.
But Warnock insists his other irons in the fire take precedence.
He said: "The powers-that-be want me to have a look at the lad – and that’s fine with me. But I do need to get other players in, so I hope that if Emmanuel does get invited to stay – it doesn’t affect our other plans."
Ledesma made an immediate impact following his move to Rangers from Italian side Genoa after the clubs agreed a year-long loan deal and a £2.2m fee for his permanent transfer.
However, he subsequently fell out of favour, returning to Italy before the end of that season, and has since had spells with second-tier Salernitana, Novaro and Crotone.
But he has remained a favourite of Gianni Paladini, and bringing him back has been on the QPR chairman's back-burner for a while.
