It suddenly came to me Thesis...Antithesis...Synthesis is this site's approach to Discussing QPR Which is why this site welcomes all views. And why this site strongly uges everyone to at least in the posts pretend you respect the views of others - even if you disagree (or despise) them! Hence the repeated messageboard call for tolerance, or whatever the better word to use. Avoidance of ad-hominems, etc. Mostly set out in the original "Declaration of Purpose" qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=8

Ah the old thesis, antithesis and synthesis triad I remember in my younger days as an avid Marxist-Dialectal Materialist reciting that along with a number of other related neo-Hegelian concepts such as the 'negation of the negation' and 'the law of the interpenetration of opposite' etc. Happy days! Did you know that Hegel never in fact used the term 'thesis, antithesis and synthesis'? (Although the concept is in his philisophy). Marx and Engels did, not least as an expression of the class struggle (thesis (bourgeoisie) v Antithesis (proletariat) creating conflcit leading to new socialised means of production (socilaism) etc.? Perhaps you are becoming more left wing in your older days Mike?

... Perhaps you are becoming more left wing in your older days Mike? Anything is possible! A neocon, neo-libertarian, anti-elitist who lived a couple of years on a Kibbutz: picking them apples/in the cotton fields, etc.

Isn't neoliberalism dead after the recent crisis of unregulated finace capitalism?

Albeit I dont know why you care lol but, he's the first bloke i've met in person who has. Thoroughly nice chap.

Isn't neoliberalism dead after the recent crisis of unregulated finace capitalism? I think it's to soon to make that assumption. More than likely the ideals will survive but common sense in the light of recent events will prevail in the long run leading to a slightly adapted philosophy of neoliberalism that can survive in it's actual climate. Much like the behaviour exhibited by the financial sector leading up to the recent crisis of unregulated financial capitalism, survival is in the nature of the beast and history will continue to repeat it's-self. I think.

surely neo liberalism has to always exist by default as it needs to eliminate the public good and ideas of community,an ideal that is fondly always be ever present in peoples minds.
that's what I think anyway, that's not bothered anyone before.

Without this getting political (a no-no on this site), just to point out I said neo-LIBERTARIANISM not neo-liberalism. (Maybe I should have said quasi-LIbertarianism)
