Hull Mail
HULL CITY: Striker move still undecided Tuesday, January 19, 2010HULL City striker Daniel Cousin has today been linked with a move to Fulham as his agent continues to try to engineer a move away from the KC. City chairman Adam Pearson has given agent Willie McKay permission to find a new club for the striker whilst the transfer window is open. Having first tried to sign the 32-year-old from Rangers back in January 2008, Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson is a known admirer of the Gabon international. But his future will not become clear until he returns from the African Cup of Nations later this month. Gabon are on the verge of progressing to the last eight after a goalless draw with Tunisia put them within touching distance of qualification. That means Cousin's stay in Angola will be extended, holding up his move away from the Tigers. QPR have already struck a provisional deal to take him on-loan until the end of the season, but that could be in jeopardy after the exit of manager Paul Hart, who instigated the move. McKay is still touting Cousin's services to clubs in England and France and a decision on his future is expected on his return to the UK. Fulham's interest in Cousin comes on the back of injuries to Bobby Zamora and Clint Dempsey which has severely depleted their attacking options. Zamora is out with a broken collarbone and his comeback won't be rushed, whilst a deal to sign Roma forward Stefano Okaka, 20, on-loan for the rest of the season has also broken down. Fulham face a tricky tie against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 32 of the Europa League and need someone who can play in Europe. Cousin fits the bill perfectly and has previous experience of doing so from his time at the Gers and with Lens. www.sporthull.co.uk/headlines/HULL-CITY-Striker-undecided/article-1727401-detail/article.html

I thought that goal had probably made him unavailable to us. Also, it was Hart that wanted him, so double unlikely now I guess. Mind you, Paladini is a past master ate bringing in players a previous manager wanted so you never know.

On the other hand.. Evening Standard.
"...Cousin won't be put off by huge pay cutDaniel Cousin is set to join Queens Park Rangers on loan even though the Hull striker will have to take a £20,000-a-week pay cut. The 32-year-old was first approached soon after Paul Hart took over as QPR manager last month and he is anxious to get first-team football after being frozen out by the Premier League club. Cousin is paid £26,000 a week at Hull but they have refused to contribute anything towards his salary at QPR, who will only pay £6,000. Despite that, and the fact Hart is no longer at Loftus Road, the deal will be done once Cousin returns later this month from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he has helped Gabon reach the quarter-finals." www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23796938-coca-cola-league-round-up.do

Yup, pretty shoddy. Although not as bad as Paul WATRButon, where it's more of a briefing than research.

Monster and Critics Soccer News Cousin wants to leave Hull City Jan 20, 2010, 10:24 GMT Lobito, Angola - Gabon captain Daniel Cousin is keen to leave English Premier League club Hull City. Speaking ahead of Gabon's final group game against Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations in Benguela on Thursday, Cousin told the German Press Agency dpa that he wants to move elsewhere. 'I opt to leave Hull. I do not want to stay with the club. I want to move, possibly to another club in England, or move to France,' the 32-year-old said. Cousin, who joined Hull from Glasgow Rangers in 2008 for an undisclosed fee, said that he did not have a good relationship with the manager of the side. 'Me and Phil Brown, the gaffer, we have no good relationship and it is therefore difficult for me to stay in Hull because I do not play and the relationship with the gaffer is not good.' He said there had been some contact between him and clubs, but no offers yet. Cousin has played in France in the past at Lens and Le Mans. Cousin, whose side needs only to draw against Zambia to be assured of a place in the quarter-finals, said that he was confident of advancing. 'We must win the game because we need the confidence for the rest of the competition. But Zambia is a good side, they play very well,' he said. www.monstersandcritics.com/sport/soccer/article_1526861.php/Cousin-wants-to-leave-Hull-City#ixzz0dEjcl8gz

Well Gabon are now out out Cousin upset by Panthers exit Gabon captain Daniel Cousin has revealed his disappointment at being knocked out of the African Cup of Nations. www.football365.co.za/story/0,22162,14287_5877301,00.html The Black Panthers started the tournament with a bang, beating Cameroon in their opening fixture and then drawing with Tunisia. However, their profligacy in front of goal came back to haunt them as they were eliminated by a tiebreaker with regards to goals scored. Cousin, who must shoulder some of the blame for his side's lack of goals, revealed that his side went from delighted to disappointed in a short space of time after the final whistle of their defeat to Zambia on Thursday. The Hull City forward said: "We thought we had qualified but after a short while, we received the news that we did not qualify. "We started well against Cameroon (in their first match), but whatever happened, happened."

Hull Daily Mail "...Daniel Cousin, captain of the Black Panthers, is expected to arrive back in England in the next 48 hours after Gabon suffered a 2-1 defeat to Zambia. With both the Tigers and the player desperate to engineer a January move away from the KC Stadium, his return from international duty should aid their cause. Cousin, who is understood to command around £24,000 a week in wages at City, is among a host of out-of favour players the Tigers are desperate to move on. Championship club QPR had made their move for the 33-year-old but having since sacked Paul Hart, a move to West London appears dead in the water. It leaves Greek outfit Larissa as the leading contenders to seal a loan deal for Cousin before the transfer window shuts in nine days. The Tigers are likely to have to foot a sizeable slice of the striker's wages to complete a move but with Cousin unlikely to feature after the arrival of Amr Zaki, City are desperate to offload unwanted stars. www.sporthull.co.uk/headlines/HULL-CITY-Nations-Cup-delay-Olofinjana/article-1747915-detail/article.html
