UPDATE: Ipswich ARE going to Appeal STead's sending off. So he's available to score some goals against QPR IPSWICH Official Site TOWN APPEAL OVER JON RED Posted on: Sat 26 Dec 2009 Town are to appeal over the red card shown to Jon Stead in the defeat at Palace with the striker saying that even some of the opposition backed up his belief that it wasn't a sending off offence. The Blues' frontman was dismissed for the first time in his career after a challenge on Freddie Sears was deemed worthy of a red card by referee Paul Taylor in the 3-1 defeat at Selhurst Park. The Club made the FA aware that an appeal will be launched after Town boss Roy Keane looked at the incident again on DVD, meaning Jon is available to play in Monday's game against QPR. "I was hoping we would appeal because I felt it was a yellow card at worst," Jon told the Club website. "To look up and see the red card was a massive shock to me. It wasn't two footed, I didn't leave the ground. It was just a mis-timed tackle and a yellow card would have been plenty. "If anything I thought it was a foul on me before the tackle but I didn't lunge at anyone or try and hurt the player. "I tried to speak to the referee before he showed the card but their players made it difficult in the way they were surrounding him and that was disappointing. We're all fellow professionals playing the same game. "But as soon as they saw the red card, some of the Palace players turned around and said to me 'It wasn't a red card, you are unlucky.' "I'm hoping the appeal comes through because it 'kills me'. I've just got back in the team and now I could be out for three games." If Blues lose the appeal, Jon will miss the FA Cup trip to Blackpool as well as the League games against Leicester and Coventry. www.itfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10272~1915529,00.html

Did anyone see how bad Delaney was at Palace yesterday ??!
Laughably bad, almost Fitz Hall bad, he was that bad, no way he wont get dropped after that, shocking.

Yep, he did not have a good game yesterday (from the 10 sec. clip I saw on TV.) He will probably raise it against us though and yesterday I thought Fitz Hall was in patches actually quite good. Most of those around him played a lot worse.

The club have appealed against Stead's sending-off at Crystal Palace, meaning he can play on Monday and if the appeal fails, he will then serve a ban. QPR central defender Damion Stewart is available again after serving a one-match suspension. Stewart could get the nod ahead of Fitz Hall, while Matt Connolly is also in contention after a recent hip injury. MATCH PREVIEW The last time these two sides met, an Ipswich team led by Jim Magilton beat QPR 3-1, producing an excellent performance - and turning up the heat on the then Rangers coach Paulo Sousa. Magilton has since had a brief and troubled spell spell at QPR himself. He quickly went the same way as Sousa, and his recent departure means there will be no emotional return on Monday to the club he served for 10 years as a player and manager prior to his sacking last season. Instead, Rangers' latest manager Paul Hart has the task of plotting an end to Ipswich's recent good run at Portman Road, where Town are unbeaten in six matches. Despite claiming his first win since becoming Magilton's successor, Hart was jeered by R's fans during and after the Boxing Day victory against Bristol City; a reaction he diplomatically described as "understandable". MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • Ipswich have won 24 of the previous 60 league meetings between these clubs. QPR have won 19, and 17 have been drawn. 606: DEBATE Have your say on this match • Rangers have not won in their last seven matches against Ipswich. Ipswich • Ipswich have won two and drawn four of their last six home matches. • They ended their 2008 fixtures with a 1-0 away win over Derby, having bowed out of the two previous calendar years with a defeat. Queens Park Rangers • QPR have picked up one point out of a last possible nine away from home. MOST RECENT MEETING QPR 1-3 Ipswich (21 February 2009) QPR scorer: Di Carmine 3. Ipswich scorers: Stead 14, Counago 61, Walters 70. news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_1/8426408.stm

QPR Official Site THE SUNDAY PREVIEW: TRACTOR BOYS Posted on: Sun 27 Dec 2009 The R's travel to Roy Keane's Ipswich Town on Monday afternoon, as the hectic festive fixture schedule continues apace in the Coca Cola Championship. Hot on the heels of Saturday's 2-1 victory against Bristol City at Loftus Road, Paul Hart's men make the journey to Portman Road, aiming to end the season on a high with victory against the Tractor Boys. After their 10 match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday following a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, Keane will be looking for a response from his side. Article continues Advertisement MPU Jon Stead saw red as the Tractor Boys threw away a one goal lead to succumb to a disappointing reverse at Selhurst Park. Team News Damion Stewart returns following a one match suspension, but Lee Cook, Gareth Ainsworth, Martin Rowlands and Gavin Mahon remain sidelined. Matt Connolly is again likely to be in contention following his short cameo on Saturday, whilst Angelo Balanta could be involved. For Ipswich, Jon Walters and Grant Leadbitter should return from respective one match suspensions, and loanee Stern John is eligible after missing Saturday's defeat against his parent Club, Crystal Palace. Classic Encounter QPR 2, Ipswich Town 1 Coca Cola Championship - August 9th 2005 Rangers withstood an improved second half performance from Ipswich Town to record their first win of the season. Sam Parkin's 54th minute goal changed the atmosphere at Loftus Road after Rangers had utterly dominated the first 45 minutes to lead 2-0. The Super Hoops - whose goals arrived courtesy of Kevin Gallen and Martin Rowlands - weren't exactly hanging on, but the second half was a far more nervous affair and the home side were understandably relieved when the final whistle blew. We need to win this one. I have an Ipswich fan on the Yellow Fever website making my life miserable reminding me of that 3-1 defeat.

Always liked Ipswich...Were desperately unlucky not to win the First Div Championship under Bobby Robbson. In the early/mid 1970s, they along with QPR and Burnley and Leicester were playing great football in the First Div. They were our first Div One scalps in 1968/69 - and of course they went up with us in that never ever to be fogotten magic 1967/68 season.
