Wasn't at the game. But remember the match reports. (And then near end of season, lost 0-4 at home to Bolton...

In 1969/70, started the season se well..but slumped.

I was at the game at Bolton. It was freezing up there! Managed to cadge a free ticket to the game off Mike Ferguson who had recently joined us!

I seem to remember that it was Alan Spratley in goal, not Ron Springett. Alan was really short and Bolton kept lobbing the ball high into the area and he missed everything!

I was at Burnden Park that day..What a farce of a game. Even by the standards back then no way should that have been played.

In hindsight the most amusing quip of the afternoon was when a fellow R's supporter near me said after Mick Leach put us 1-0 up...now Bolton will have to score Two goals to beat us
