Gary Megson will monitor Steven Reid's loan spell at QPR with a view to making a January swoop.
Blackburn midfielder Reid, 28, has joined Rangers for a month as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury which threatened his career.
And BOLTON boss Megson will keep tabs on the former Ireland star's time in London before deciding whether or not to offer him a £500,000 full-time switch to the Reebok Stadium.
Reid is out of contract at Ewood Park next summer and Bolton could snap him up on a free then. But Rovers could decide to cash in on a player who cost them £1.85million when he joined from Millwall in 2003.
