Bobby Turpie - Born 13 November 1949

QPR apprentice who made 2 QPR appearances in 1969/1970.

As Tony Currie said in an interview on QPR's Official Site a few years back:

"I first joined QPR on amateur forms when I was 14 to 15 years-old.
Then when I left school the Club didn't think I was good enough to sign as an apprentice.
Instead, they signed Bob Turpie who was a mate of mine and went to the same School as me.
So I then had to go and work for a small building firm..."

Turpie made his QPR debut: Coming on as sub for the injured Mike Kelly - (the same day Gerry Francis made his full QPR debut)

September 13, 1969: Away to Portmsouth. QPR won 3-1, Francis, Clement and Bridges

But Tony Currie ranks as one of our biggest - if not the biggest - youth player error we made

(Some others we failed to signed, but never sure if actually could have - Perhaps John Barnes, Rio Ferdinand...!)
