We are always told that QPR don't have any scouts or did'nt at the time Raheem was brought into the club. Somebody must have seen his potential and brought him in so who was it ? Does he still work at the club ? What fortune are the club offering him ? I know what my guess would be on that last one. I come from a family who's grandfather worked for a club in the Midlands who found 6 players who went onto play 1st team football and never even got the credit for spotting them and I'm sure this person will be treated in the same way. Lets name the person and give him some credit and I don't mean all of the ones that held Raheem's coat once while he got changed. The club has a big thank you to him and while it's the players undoubt talent that has got him where he is who is thwe mystery person who first saw it ? I think I'm correct in saying he played for Brent so who covered that area ? Or did GP go on a Sunday stroll with his dog and find him

Welcome to the board Nikki. I have no idea who found Raheem but I think GP found him an agent...

Thanks for the welcome Z , but it was a serious question this person in all this hype is never mentioned and I just think it's so unfair. All the people involved at the club not one of them has said thanks in public and as I stated earlier I know what it feels like. Lets start a campaign to out this person and as fans say thank you. Although I love the club it strikes me it's not the best in giving credit to people in the background.

Benvenuto, Bienvenido, Welcome Nikki ;D
I take your point and in part agree with it. However, unless you know who it is, it would immensely difficult to identify the one that actually found (discovered) him.
It would seem, from what I have read, that sadly his father has not been part of his footballing growth. Therefore it would be good know who has encouraged and nurtured his obvious talent.. It is difficult to know exactly who brought him to the attention of the club, he would have been 9 or 10 and it's likely they may be more than one claiming it if there was any form of recognition.
I've known a good few scouts over the years and it's an endless and thankless task with little recognition, ever. It's even more difficult scouting in this day and age as anyone at any football event immediately distrusts a stranger.

Good question
I'd say it was probably a team effort. Someone sees him. Someone else goes to check, etc.
But I'll put the query on my blog...Maybe others too will adopt. And I imagine will come out.

Of course as John Kennedy said "Victory has a hundred fathers, but defeat is an orphan" Or to put it another way...

And thinking back to the old QPR finds. Chris Gielger and G-d I forgot his name, and Bobby Ross were in charge but they all had people reporting to them. And we never knew the names of the finder of Gerry Francis or Martyn Busby or Sibley or Clement or Morgans, etc, (I think)

Adam "Circus" didnt get a fair crack of the whip IMO, we saw a little bit of the legendary Polish hitman and that was it, he was banished & we never heard of him again. From what I saw of him, he could run better than Sammy Koejoe or Rob Steiner, not sure about the football side of things, but lets face it, even getting someone who could run properly could be deemed as progress at certain points in the not too distant past.
Also, I'll entertain no mockery of the little wonder Doudou, who I actually thought was a good player, he was tricky, he could run & he always tried his hardest on the pitch, Doudou, I've got nothing but love for you. When we literally didnt have a penny, it was signings like Doudou that gave us hope, so lets not mock the little man in retrospect, when I saw him it always looked like he was at least capable of doing something / making something happen.
The first I saw of Sammy Koejoe, I think the first two words out of my mouth were Jesus & Christ, God Bless Him. God Bless You Sammy Koejoe, he tried his best & I think this is what we want to see at QPR.

www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20091111/lead/lead2.htmlOn Safari in Central Africa, there is news that Armel Tchakounte may be in the next country. I found an old computer and there is WI-Firight nder these trees. Thought would try to dispatch this article. See, he wasnt born in Harlesden, which will be a severe disadvantage for him. As soon as we find Armel, will transmit it.

Yes welcome and many thanks Goffy. To be honest, I haven't previously heard of this man. I presume he's a scout not listed on the Watford Directory (I looked briefly) www.watfordfc.com/page/WhosWhoIndex/0,,10400,00.html But thank you John Crieth -

Ok ill expand John also brought in Antonio German Frankie Sutherland and also had a hand in Angelo Balanta through an agency called Qudos and now is in charge of the smaller ages at Watford . He also worked part time for FITC at QPR and loves to be in X block a real QPR man.

That is an impressive list. He definitely deserves recognition for spotting those kids. An R as well. Why haven't we snapped him up?

Many thanks for expanding Goffy, shame John's no longer with QPR but I shan't ask why. Cheers once again, pass on our thanks to John and ask him to return and bring some more.

No it's the same person and thats where I know John from at Hendon FC the chap who John was with that day so the story goes is someone called Peter Moran and John always gives him credit for the find as well. So glad Nikki started this thread because why should'nt people know his name he has never been paid at all , but just think to let people know who it was is a nice touch. Maybe the Club could invite him to the first game when Raheem is in the squad and knowing John he would be very happy with that

Have just found this post: You are right in saying John Creith, my dad found Raheem Sterling at the age of 10 and took him into QPR.
Since this conversation QPR have still not given him recognition for his find. Also around that time he scouted: Darnel Furlong Osman kakay Tafari Moore Bruno Andre Jordan Gibbons And numerous others that are in the system.
He is still involved in football and offered QPR players but no one ever gets back to him so he sends them to Watford. And still pays to go to QPR games in his beloved 'x' block.

Welcome Catherine. Please thank your dad on my behalf. There are genuine fans out there that would love to see scouts more recognised, if not just recognised in the first place. For some reason, that idiot Paladini was trying to grab some glory on Sterling but the truth is out. One thing QPR fans wont stand for is bullshit. And Paladini was full of it.Furlong and Andre should really have become first teamers last season but all the promise of giving youngsters a fair go was just hot air as per normal.

Catherine Creith That is an impressive list, he clearly knows what he is doing. As we had no recognisable scouting back in those days not getting back to him sounds like madness. I don't like the sound of his efforts benefiting Watford rather than us, so as we are told that things have changed now, would your Dad feel like trying again?

Quote from John Creith: thank you, I don't work for watford they just ask for players as I work in schools teaching pe, run harrow district and involved in non league football. John O'Brian, Tom Oconnell, me and Paul ashwood did all the work at the time, also peter mooring who was around. Terry O'Sullivan joins but we just about were aloud to claim petrol money. Tell them am always a Rangers fan but they have no interest
