54 Years Ago Today...OTD in 1968: Les Allen in charge of QPR for the first time:

Jim Gregory had strangely appointed Les Allen as player manager to replace Tommy Docherty who was in-and-out of QPR after 28 Days. (Docherty of course had replaced Bill Dodgin who replaced Alec Stock (shamefully - and bizarely - axed by Gregory)

December 7, 1968: Les Allen's First Game in Charge, with QPR at HOME to Coventry. QPR lost 1-0.
QPR's Team: Springett - Clement Watson Hazell Harris - Morgan Sibley Morgan - Marsh Leach Wilks.

Besides the very questionable merits of axing Alec Stock in the first place, QPR would have been a lot better off with Stock/Dodgin in charge than Les Allen
