Steve Gallen's Under 18's comfortably saw off the challenge of Aldershot Town in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The R's ran out convincing 5-2 winners, but were made to work for the victory as the Shots came back from 2-0 down to level mid-way through the second half.
A strong finish to the game, however, saw Rangers claim a victory their performance deserved.
Gallen was able to call upon the services of Elliott Cox and Max Ehmer, who didn't feature in last week's game against Millwall, while Antonio German also started after he was rested to the bench against the Lions owing to his involvement with the Reserves.
And the trio made a big difference to the side.
After a frantic start, Rangers settled into the game and played some lovely passing football.
Sam Bewick saw a couple of efforts from the edge of the box fly just wide as their dominance began to show, and it was rewarded on 25 minutes when German robbed the Shots centre-back of possession before firing home from 20 yards.
Despite enjoying much of the play, it was only that goal which separated the two sides at the break.
In the second half, however, QPR wasted little time in extending that lead.
Bewick was in the right place at the right time to fire home from just outside the area after a QPR corner was only partially cleared.
The hard-working midfielder made no mistake as he made a sweet connection, giving the Shots keeper no chance.
From this point on, it looked as though Rangers would cruise to victory as they continued to play some nice, passing football.
However, a goal against the run of play allowed Aldershot back into the game on 65 minutes. Buoyed by that strike, the Shots levelled three minutes later.
The R's could easily have faltered at this stage but, to their enormous credit, they rode the storm before taking control of the match once again.
Ehmer put Rangers back into the lead with a fine header following a Michael Doughty cross before Bewick ran almost the length of the pitch to make it 4-2 to Gallen's youngsters.
As the game drew to a close, Cox got in on the scoring act with a powerful header into the roof of the net from an Ehmer corner.
Gallen was understandably pleased with the performance of his side afterwards, telling http://www.qpr.co.uk: "It was a good team display, and I am particularly happy with the way we reacted to their second goal.
"It would have been easy for us to fall away after that and end up losing the match. But the lads rolled their sleeves up and got what they fully deserved.
"The involvement of Cox, Ehmer and German made a big difference to us this weekend.
"And I have to give a special mention to young Bruno Andrade, who came on in the second-half to make his debut for the Under 18s. He's been doing well for the Under 16's, and fully deserved this chance.
"He played well for us out there and can be happy with his performance."
The R's have two more matches in the Youth Alliance Cup group stage, starting next weekend at home to Wycombe Wanderers before facing Southend United a week later.
Gallen added: "We really need to pick up at least one more win to guarantee a place in the next round."
QPR Under 18's: Bulmer, Harriman, Parmenter, Sanderson, Ehmer, Perrin, Bewick, Cox, German, Doughty.
Subs: Sutherland, Brittain, Andrade, Malloy, Waters.
