Or maybe ... Ipswich site: TWID - Town and Blades Battling for ShittuWed 16th Sep 2009 Town and Sheffield United are locked in a battle to sign Bolton Wanderers central defender Danny Shittu, according to reports in Lancashire this morning. Both clubs are said to want to take Shittu on loan by the end of the week, while two other Championship sides are also believed to have shown interest in the 29-year-old. The Blues were first linked with the Nigerian international earlier in the week with manager Roy Keane subsequently refusing to comment on the reports. Elsewhere, this morning Colchester and Barnsley are also said to be interested in the former QPR and Watford man, who has previously been mentioned in connection with Newcastle United. Keane appeared less than confident of signing his two loan targets after last night’s game when he said that no loan players would come in before Saturday’s game at Doncaster Rovers. www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=15270

This is Lancashire - Shittu no Blade runnerFriday 18th September 2009 By Marc Iles » DANNY Shittu has turned down a chance to join Sheffield United on loan. The Nigeria international has been told that he can move elsewhere to find first team football but Gary Megson revealed yesterday that he rejected the opportunity to drop down into the Championship with Kevin Blackwell’s Blades. “He doesn’t want to go on loan,” said the Wanderers boss. “I asked him if it was Sheffield United he didn’t fancy or just that he didn’t like the fact of going on loan, and it was Sheffield United.” Ipswich Town were also said to be interested in the 29-year-old centre half, although they have not yet made a firm offer. Shittu has not figured for Wanderers since the final day of last season against Manchester City, and has been on the winning side only once in 12 appearances since making a £2million move from Watford in August 2008. www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/4635902.Shittu_no_Blade_runner/
