QPR Official Site - KULCSAR TEST RESULTS
QPR are very pleased to announce that the results of tests carried out on midfielder George Kulcsar have confirmed that the strain of meningitis from which he is suffering is the viral strain of the disease.
The other QPR players who were under observation after they had shown similar symptoms, Karl Ready and Matthews Rose, have been diagnosed with another form of virus which is not meningitis and their symptoms are improving. QPR will publish more information about their condition as and when it becomes available.
Our thoughts are with George, Karl and Matthew and their families at this time. The doctors who are caring for George will be advising us shortly of his recovery period.
The Football League sanctioned the postponement of QPR's fixture with Sheffield United when it became apparent that George Kulcsar had a confirmed case of meningitis and other players in the squad were showing symptoms. QPR would like to thank The Football League, Sheffield United and the fans for their help and understanding in this difficult matter.
The Meningitis Research Foundation have made the following statement in relation to viral meningitis;
"Viral meningitis is caused by many different viruses. It is not contagious (unlike bacterial meningitis) and most cases usually recover without extensive medical treatment."

QPR would like to reiterate that Saturday's scheduled game against Sheffield United has been postponed following the events of the past few days. We will of course let you know the rearranged date of the game as soon as we can, along with the new date for the Stockport County away fixture.
Jim Frayling QPR Brand Manager said 'It has been a very difficult time for us all at the club - fans, staff and players. All our thoughts have been with George and his family and we are mightily relieved to hear that his condition is not as bad as we feared. On behalf of the club and all the fans I would like to wish George a speedy recovery'.
Although the training ground has been shut, Loftus Road Stadium has remained open throughout the last few days to deal with the situation. The club have been inundated with enquiries from the media concerning the suspected outbreak of meningitis. The Loftus Road Chief Executive, Simon Crane, has been fielding a lot of those calls and he had this to say after a very hectic couple of days;
"We've been very concerned for George and the entire playing squad throughout this time and are very relieved that the test results produced this afternoon have shown George to be suffering from the viral strain of the disease and all other members of the playing staff to be meningitis free.
"It is important now to care for George and his family and get the club back on track so that Gerry and the squad can resume the Nationwide League Division One campaign. I'd like to thank all the fans of our club and football in general for their extraordinary support of George, Karl and Matthew."
