Agree with that. Mel would do a great job for us. He has the experience, contacts and skillset currently lacking at Rangers. If we are to progress as a club this is the type of appoinment we need to make.
Props to The Bard

I remember him being well regarded but can't remember who he found/scouted?

I belive if you start with Cook and Shittu... (Once again thanks, Winton family!)
He was there when the QPR team was gutted after relegation/administration...And remained as I recall, the three Division 3 Seasons, and the start of our season Back in Division 2 (Not the "Official" names of these divisions!)
Others obviously know more: But it's a "throwback" to the era when the guy in charge of bringing players to QPR went to see them play and found gems. Didn't just rely on agent friends. (Or DVDs: Kojoe!)

Thanks for putting this up, Mike. We've got nearly 40 signatures now, if we could just push that to 100 I think that's a decent number to send in.
I've heard from Mel and he's really touched at the reaction so far and would obviously love to come back to LR because he loved it last time around.

I'll put it my blog as well. Although to be honest, the concept of the club responding strikes me as rather unlikely.
If you want any advice, I'd wait till at least Monday because sending to the club because quite a number of people who might sign seem to focus more on the QPR Boards when they're at work!

After the initial post on LFW, it's on most or all of the boards (and my blog, which currently got 500 hits on that post)...And tomorrow is a work day, which means people will spend more time on QPR matters )...So if they leave the petition, I imagine it will go up more. It's great to do. And no harm in trying...However....I don't think QPR will be swayed in the slightest by this appeal. If really want this to happen, need to persuade Magilton and Paladini and Briatore how it's good for them. In Paladini's case, for example, he could take the ultimate credit for good signings; and leave the blame for flops on Johnson or Magilton. But that's fine, if you don't worry about credit and blame; but just want to get things done. Magilton presumably has his own people if any, that he'd like to bring in. And Briatore: Well, maybe if JOhnson can drive fast...

It's certainly worth a shout and there is over 200 signed up now. Not including Flavio Briatore who calls himself "emperer". There's always one isn't there! Best of luck with it Dan, let us know what you writ please. ;D

Maybe if Briatore hears that Gianni is taking all the credit for QPR's success and brilliant signings and privately saying unkind things about Flavio.... ;D

Up to 254...Now up to 264...269
Guess it's petering out. People should be aware that there is a petition and have chosen whether or not to sign...
I'll bump it again, but I guess this is about it...

I guess it didn't work. Never saw anything about him signing elsewhere.
But I guess some things are more important than what's best for QPR
