They compare well to that man at Loftus Road!Swansea Official Site - Swans set for double swoop Posted on: Thu 27 Aug 2009 Swansea City are pleased to announce that terms have been agreed with West Brom for the signing of Craig Beattie. Terms have also been agreed with the Scottish international striker - capped four times by his country and has Premier League experience - and he will be in Swansea later this evening to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year contract. The transfer fee will be payable over the next 12 months and is guaranteed to break the club's previous transfer record and will rise significantly higher depending on appearances and success. He will be assigned the number 9 shirt and will also be joined at the Liberty Stadium by Lee Trundle. The former striker will return to Swansea on loan until January 1 from Bristol City with the option of further extending his stay in south west Wales. Lee understands the injury crisis at the club and is eager to lend his support and feels that this is a great opportunity for him to show what he's capable of doing in the Championship. The 32-year-old is set to wear number 19 and will be eligible to take part in Saturday's fixture against Watford. www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~1779761,00.html

can i be blunt?
He was a poor manager of QPR - under him we saw dire football.
He was fired, with no argument from him, for whatever reason.
Those are facts
He is no longer boss
It honestly comes across as IF you want him to do well?
Who honestly cares....
?
all any QPR fans want is for Magilton to do well.
If you gave the same exposure to Dowie (who should have never been fired) I could understand it but, i dont particularly give a monkeys about Sousa...all i want is him and every team to finish below QPR

Whether we like dislike Sousa he should have been shouldnt have been, the effect on the team of so many rapid hirings and firings is what has been dire for the team.

Not just on the merits of whether he was any good. Give him the rest of the season. The summer. And his choice of his own players) But the larger picture: Axing Sousa (so soon) I'd argue, made the club far, far less attractive to other managers (of the kind we want) Two: It's an interesting "case study" to see how Sousa does in a different environment. We'll be able to compare in a few months. Two: You may notice I care about nostalgia and exes. I care most about the two ex-QPR managers who were treated the most shabbily. And both gotten out in an underhanded way. However if Dowie had a job, I"d be interested. You Scott, as I've seen in posts, don't care too much about number of ex-players (such as Chris Day!) That's fine. But that's partly. But when QPR play Swansea, I do want QPR to win And finally of course, there seen to be some others; who are no less interested in how Sousa's doing. But they just wish him ill.

Some people just cannot seem to get their head around towing the party line.
Get with the programme chaps, by the way, do not forget how well our government has run the country as well for more than a decade.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me ....................

Scott you sure about what you say about Sousa?
First of all the players had huge respect for Sousa and the man had done it all in football and spoke seven different languages, and yet GP at derby away last season was ranting on the steps like a man off his nut and calling the manager all the names under the sun. The players i know for a fact were upset and pissed that Sousa was sacked and the underhand manner in which it was done.
He has gone and i wish him all the best in his new role and i have no idea how he will do but he is a decent man, unlike the peeople who ran him out of the club. I hope as well we stuff Swansea as i would any team.
I guess if Sousa had of done what GP told him and do ineterviews for a website he would still be here. At least we have no more boring draws to worry about!

are we saying that if sousa was still here we would have the above players coming to us? if his record thus far was duplicated here for at us rangers the thread titles would certainly not proclaim 'canny signings', I know it more like 'too little too late' because that who we are!
As an ex lawnmower sales rep I can officially confirm that the Grass is always greener on the other side (they cant get the stripes otherwise)
when magic gets the bullet he will be bound appear to better at his next club no doubt.
good luck to him, as fans wished the 33 servants before him, but that's it as far as I am concerned.

Don't want to get into any arguments about it.
But if you think Beattie at 32 and Trundle are good signings, then it shows a lack of football knowledge.
As for reports comments on strikers, you are basing it on what others say yet again.
Pellicori is not the answer, but he's played far better away and pre-season, unfortunately when most fans watched him at home, the whole team played rubbish. fans are basing opinions on 1 match, bit unfair. Though Finney was at Bristol City and I'm sure, he must have felt like me, late on Pellicori when he came on wasn;t too bad.
We have Simpson now and I'd have him over Trundle and Beattie put togther.
Have a good day.

Good point Pete only slightly spoilt by the fact you appear to have have got the wrong Beattie, this one is 25. (I guess it is true what they say about drummers).
While you are around, any chance you could tell us who it was that told you the information that lead to your statement about Sousa wanting a bung?
Keep up the good work and have a nice day.

Pellicori is not the answer Then why did we buy him? (I saw him in pre-season and was at Bristol away so I qualify for an opinion and hopefully an answer?.) On a separate note: Thanks for stopping to shake my hand the other day before the Forest match. It was a pleasure to meet you.

WBA Official Site - Beattie seals £800,000 move CRAIG Beattie has joined Swansea in an £800,000 move. Albion will receive an initial £500,000 from the transfer, with a further £300,000 due in performance-related add-ons. The Baggies have also inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the deal. The 25-year-old striker signed off from The Hawthorns in style with a two goals in Tuesday's 4-3 Carling Cup win over Rotherham. Beattie arrived at Albion from Celtic in an initial £1.25million deal in July 2007. Article continues Advertisement He gradually slipped behind Kevin Phillips, Ishmael Miller and Roman Bednar in the striking pecking order during his first few months as a Baggies player. But he came off the bench to score a crucial last-gasp winner at Leicester in December of Albion's Championship-winning season. A loan move to Preston the following March was cut short by a hamstring injury. But he enjoyed a more productive spell at Crystal Palace at the beginning of the following campaign when he fired five goals in 15 appearances before being recalled in December following Miller's season-ending knee injury. Beattie stepped off the bench later that month to complete a 2-0 Albion win over Tottenham with a 94th-minute strike - his first Premier League goal. He joined Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season in February, helping the Blades reach the Championship play-off final where they lost 1-0 to Burnley. His first-team chances at The Hawthorns have again been limited at the start of this season under new head coach Roberto Di Matteo. In total, Beattie made 41 appearances for the club, including 28 as a sub, and scored eight times. The other point is that at swansea he decides and buys the players he wants. At QPR he had to take what he got.
Recall he wanted midfielders which he got galore. We became Midfield Park Rangers. His plan was many of those plus a striker, three three one , or whatever. Still, he needed a good striker or two that could play this concept. Blackstock was sent to Coventry (not the team) Hellguson was hurt or couldnt hit a barn with a white stripe around it, The Italians played. alberti and the other one.(Ledesma)
Nothing worked, and you could bet your grandmother on that he asked for strikers. well he didint gettem did he. So this dreadful manager couldnt score goals. Still he didnt let many in.
Now Im gonna really stir this board up by suggesting, that perhaps he was set up to fail?? Why, if true, thats the billion pound question?
