SKY QPR Game Honours Murdered Kiyan
A QPR youth player who was stabbed to death in the street is to have a match dedicated to his memory on what would have been his 18th birthday.
Kiyan was a promising young footballer
Fifteen-year-old Kiyan Prince was attacked with a knife outside his north London school in 2006.
He had intervened in a fracas between his friend and Hannad Hasan, 17, at the London Academy.
Hasan was given a life sentence for the killing in July last year.
A gifted footballer, Kiyan was signed by Queens Park Rangers' youth team at the age of 13.
Now, the Championship game between QPR and Charlton Athletic is being dedicated to the Foundation set up in his name.
The charity will be given free advertising space in the match programme and on Loftus Road's giant TV screen. Collection buckets will also be situated around the west London ground.
Also, the club has promised to embark on a more long-term relationship with the Foundation.
Among those at the game will be Kiyan's father Mark, who hopes to keep his son's memory alive.
Kiyan's father Mark
He said: "I always remember people saying it'll get easier with time and what-not.
"The same pain that I feel, the same turning that goes on in my belly.
"The same shock that I feel, as if - has this really happened? The same feelings are still here."
QPR's football in the community manager, Andy Evans, said: "The enduring image associated with Kiyan is the picture of him in the QPR kit he loved.
"As a club, we are 100% committed to helping Mark Prince to continue with the outstanding work he has already undertaken.
"We will use the Charlton fixture to celebrate the life of Kiyan, who would have been celebrating his 18th birthday on that day, as well as to highlight the excellent work Mark is doing in the local communities." news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/QPR-Match-Against-Charlton-Is-Dedicated-To-Young-Footballer-Kiyan-Prince-Who-Was-Fatally-Stabbed/Article/200811415160691
