Bet it's all hype...Anyway definitely think Holloway should give his existing team a chance before buying !
Blackpool Gazette/ William Watt - Huge cash boost for Pool
VALERY Belokon today pledged to plough a chunk of his personal fortune into Blackpool FC after an historic deal was announced.
The Seasiders' president has agreed to come up with "a sizeable sum" of money to sign the bulk of Ian Holloway's summer transfer targets.
The Latvian flew into the UK on Wednesday for a board meeting at which Holloway asked for financial help.
And after hours of talks and deliberations Belokon agreed to give the green light.
Fans can now expect one of the biggest spending sprees in the club's history, starting with the likely recruitment of top target, Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam.
Pool are also being tipped to complete a number of other signings, with Oldham full-back Neal Eardley, Rotherham striker Reuben Reid and Rangers playmaker Alan Gow, a former Seasiders loanee, tipped to be among the new arrivals.
The details of Belokon's financial gift was announced at a sponsors lunch at Bloomfield Road.
On announcing the deal chairman Karl Oyston said: "This is a massive boost for the club and it once again illustrates Valery's fantastic support and love of Blackpool FC.
"He remains fully behind achieving his goal of Premier League football."
The news is a huge boost for Holloway, who had become increasingly desperate to add to his threadbare squad with the season just a week away.
A delighted boss said: "This is fantastic news for the club.
"Mr Belokon and I chatted at length on Wednesday about various things and his passion and desire for the club were clear for everyone to see.
"I am looking forward to discussing the players we have identified and I can't wait for the game with QPR next Saturday."
Belokon is close friends with Seasiders owner Owen Oyston, who played a major part in persuading Belokon to increase his financial support.
Owen Oyston said: "Valery and I are both confident that this news will galvanise the best football fans in the country and help the club to fill the stadium and drive forward at this exciting time.
"We have a new exciting manager at the helm with great ideas and even greater ambition and now have a new fund designed specifically to buy players."
Belokon is in the process of setting up the new fund and the money will be available for Holloway to spend by Wednesday
