R'S SWOOP FOR STEINER
RANGERS have swooped to sign Swedish striker, Rob Steiner, from Bradford City for an undisclosed fee.
Steiner had a successful loan spell at Loftus Road last season, scoring three goals in five full appearances and seven substitute outings.
The 26-year-old will heighten the competition for places in the front line, an area which manager, Gerry Francis, had been looking to strengthen.
It had looked as if the R's boss would start the season with only Kevin Gallen, Chris Kiwomya and Steve Slade as recognised first team strikers.
But the capture of Steiner will provide Francis with greater options and flexibility up front, as the team bid to improve on the last two seasons.
Scoring goals was a persistent problem in the last campaign, and Rangers supporters will hope that Steiner continues the goalscoring form he showed during his loan spell.

FRANCIS GETS STEINER
RANGERS have signed Bradford City striker Rob Steiner on a month's loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
Steiner, 25, has won three caps for Sweden and was Bradford’s leading scorer last season with 11 goals. He’s 25 years old, 6 feet three inches tall and 13 stone.
Boss Gerry Francis said:"We had a loan spare - Tim Breacker has gone back to West Ham, as they wanted money for him. So I’ve been up and down the motorways scouring a few things and I’ve secured Rob from Bradford for a month.
"He will be a very good addition to the squad. Rob is a good size and a good age. He is very useful in the air and has a lot of ability. I’m pleased we have got him in and we’ve agreed a deal to sign him permanently after the month’s loan if everything goes o.k."
Team news ...Matthew Rose is ruled out after having an operation on his broken nose...Paul Murray is 50-50 after his midweek knee injury...

Rob Steiner has been forced to quit due to injury
Queens Park Rangers striker Rob Steiner admits he is facing an uncertain future after being forced to retire from the game.
The 27-year-old Swede has conceded defeat following a long battle with a knee injury and decided to quit the game after being told he risked shattering the knee completely should he to try and battle on.
"My knee is in a very bad state," Steiner said.
"I want to get out with at least a half decent knee. There have already been changes in the bone structure.
Disappointing
"It is so disappointing. Gerry Francis and the management at QPR believed in me and I feel like I am letting everybody down.
"I have no education - nothing - and now have a whole new life in front of me. I do hope to stay in football."
Steiner cost Rangers £215,000 when he was signed from in July 1999, following two successful loan spells at Loftus Road.
The striker made a total of 33 appearances for Rangers, scoring nine goals in spell at the First Division club.
