Cook is far from ready Jul 16 2009 London Informer LEE COOK is set to miss the start of the season. The QPR forward had keyhole surgery on a damaged knee in May but has yet to return to any type of training. Speculation over the stricken player's condition was laid to rest this week when new boss Jim Magilton admitted Cook will not appear in pre-season - and it's doubtful he'll face Ian Holloway's Blackpool in the season opener at Loftus Road on August 8. Magilton said: "He is resting at the minute and under the hands of the club's medical team. He'll not feature for the next few weeks. "Yes, he's got a chance for the start of the season - but we'll see." The Hammersmith-born player's season was curtailed with a recurrence of the problem, and his campaign was a hit-and-miss affair which he blamed on the season before when the same injury prevented him from kicking a ball during his doomed stay with Fulham. However, Martin Rowlands is champing at the bit to get some action after missing most of the last campaign as well, and Magilton admits his biggest problem is holding the Irish international back. He said: "We've got to keep the reins on Martin and take that responsibility from him. "We'll assess the situation on a daily basis - but it will be a couple of weeks and after we get back from Slovenia and Croatia before he gets some minutes on a pitch."

QPR dig deep for Italian hot-shot Pellicori Jul 16 2009 London Informer QPR will pay over the odds for Alessandro Pellicori - but only if the Italian striker proves he's worth a £1million fee during the next two games. Reports that the 27-year-old's transfer is a done deal are wide of the mark. But Rangers are worried that unless they pay far more than they might need to they will lose the prolific hitman to someone else. The deal will be rushed through if Pellicori's trial with Rs turns up trumps, because his club, Avellino, are on the verge of bankruptcy and after being relegated from Serie B they need all the cash they can get. Pellicori was last night (Wednesday) with the Rs squad on their tour of Slovenia and Croatia that ends on Sunday with the match against NK Carlovac - but an insider insisted Pellicori was just one of a number of irons in the fire. "If Jim Magilton likes what he sees," said the source, "then a deal can be done quickly. With the state Avellino are in it could be that a future creditor would let him go far more cheaply - but there are too many ifs and maybes to all of that." The player was loaned out to Serie B side Grosseto last season, and has done the rounds in Italy's second tier except for a single spell in the top-flight with Lecce three seasons ago. However, the season before last he hit 18 for Avellino in a notoriously defensive league, while playing as the lone hitman for the ailing club. An Rs insider said: "He's come to an age where he could be perfect for QPR - but that's all in the hands of the manager."

At no time did the club announce he was injured/had an operation. That just sort of leaked out. No excuse for that
And I just saw your second story. Sorry

So he is resting, not even getting physiotherapy. Theres something radically wrong with this
stupid story. The worst is they expect us to believe it. Link to Post - Back to Top Logged "Weavie's Poster Of The Year 2008/09"

I don't know about the recovery process, but reminder how we found about Lee Cook being injured....And it wasnt from the club website The Mirror: June 11 - "...QPR want Danny Rose on a season-long loan from Spurs after learning Lee Cook will be out for four months. - Winger Cook, 26, had an operation on his knee last week to clean up a niggling injury and is likely to be sidelined until October."qprreport.blogspot.com/2009/06/lee-cook-reportedly-out-for-four-months.html
