IAN Holloway wowed Blackpool fans in his own unique style at a meet-the-manager event at Bloomfield Road last night.
More than 300 Tangerine-clad supporters packed the sponsors' lounge to hear Holloway talk openly about his transfer targets, style of play and his three words to work by – encouragement, enthusiasm and enjoyment.
"I'll give you a team that's proud to wear the shirt," Holloway vowed, entering and leaving to standing ovations and chants of "Holloway's Tangerine Army!"
Holloway even joked about his working relationship with chairman Karl Oyston, who appeared with his left leg in a cast.
"Thank God for the bloke you hate!" Holloway said, relieved at being given another chance in management after 12 months out of the game.
Holloway completed a Mastermind-style Seasiders quiz, and was presented with a Tangerine shirt, stick of Blackpool rock and a mini- Blackpool Tower.
Mapping out his vision for the club, Holloway said: "I want us to do better than last year. It's about development and progress. If I said promotion was a target I'd be lying. You need to take baby steps and every year get a little bit better.
"I'll make sure they earn their money and understand what a 9-5 job is. Everything we do will be as professional as it can be."
Fan Malcolm Andrew, 54, of Poulton said: "I was very impressed with his honesty. He doesn't seem to have hidden anything from us. He has instilled discipline and professionalism."
Mark Morgan, 48, of Thornton, added: "His is a shrewd operator and very likeable. He has analysed the players very quickly and he knows what he is doing."

SHAUN Barker could make his last appearance in a Blackpool shirt this afternoon after manager Ian Holloway admitted a transfer deal is very close.
Holloway has also seen a move for DJ Campbell collapse and endured a frustrating week in his bid to sign Charlie Adam.
The manager pleaded with top target Adam to get in touch, admitting that the Rangers midfielder had failed to respond to calls since the clubs agreed a £500,000 fee on Monday.
The Seasiders travel to Burscough for their first pre-season friendly this afternoon, when club captain Barker is expected to play 45 minutes at the heart of the defence.
Derby County have had two bids for the 26-year-old rejected, though Championship rivals Nottingham Forest could be in the driving seat with a cash-plus-play offer.
Speaking at a Bloomfield Road fans' event last night, Holloway said: "We are very close to a deal. The last thing I want to do is lose him but everyone has their value.
"What you have to remember is that players know what other people are getting paid at this level.
"Even if we doubled his money, it wouldn't be as much as the two clubs chasing him would offer."
As for Adam, Holloway implored last season's loan favourite: "Let me show you how much we want you."
But the boss was refreshingly honest about Pool's frustrating week in pursuit of the 23-year-old.
"So far he's ignored our calls. He's blamed it on his agent and it seems like he's stalling.
"Whether he is waiting for his agent or for another club to come in for him I'm not sure.
"If I could meet him, I could sell him this club and my plans. I'd explain to him that we can help him get into the Premier League.
"He needs to know how much the town loved him but I can only do so much without talking to the lad.
"If I had him here for talks I think I could get him to join us. I'm going to try my best to get him to the club.
"I think we lack what he's got – a wonderful left foot, a nasty streak in him and he's over six-foot."
Holloway is concerned that the delay could alert other potential buyers, with Derby the latest rival club linked with the Scot.
Holloway added: "I have a horrible feeling someone else might nip in. What I will say is that if the deal does fall through, we'll do our best to bring in someone of equal quality."
However, that won't be Campbell, after Holloway admitted the striker's wage demands resulted in a deal collapsing.
Pool had agreed a £300,000 deal for the striker, another loan success at Bloomfield Road last season, but couldn't match his Leicester wages.
Holloway said: "We agreed a fee but his agent told us we'd have to pay him what he's currently on. When Leicester got promoted last season, DJ's money went up dramatically due to a clause in his contract. He's on a huge amount and we couldn't possibility match it."
Holloway ruled out a move for the Norwich midfielder Matthew Pattison
