Would\nt this be the ideal time to relieve Ainsworth of his burden!

Our defence is virtually a sieve. Our offence is out of ideas. Les Frdinand has to been replaced. Our presence in the first division is virtually assured How far can we fall?

It is well known that Brentford have been successful in player signing by using a scientific statistical based assessment of players and their performances before making some very good signings.
I read one of the better informed football sites last week but did not repost it as it seems the board is close to dying,. However the long article did a similar exercise on Wycombe performances under Ainsworth's rule and in all the key indicators such as possession, tackles won and lost corners, chances created etc and in all performance measures Wycombe were constantly in the bottom 4 or 5 of the First Division and below anything in the Championship, with possession consistently at or below 30%.
The article did a similar exercise on Rangers time under Warburton and the early days of Beale when I think we would agree that despite Warburton's poor run we had been playing some of the best attractive open football we have seen at Loftus Road for some years. The same statistics gathered on Warburton's time are diametrically opposite to Ainsworth's both at Wycombe and now with us. One stand out was the number of assists/chances created by Chair under Warburton and Chair under Ainsworth - at complete opposite ends of the charts. It is easy for fans to see the decline over the last 18 months.
Now I believe that Ainsworth really does love QPR but I read his comments on how the Club was a mess before he arrived but he has sorted it out, he will turn around our form, he will lead our shock move up the table etc. So the issue to me is that Ainsworth has an ego and character just as large as Beale. I do not want the club to sack Ainsworth but I believe that any self respecting manager would turn around today, put his hands in the air and admit he has taken on too much or is out of his depth and resign. He would certainly earn far more respect from me by doing that than continuing this idiotic "it will be all right on the night" comments after each defeat. But I think his ego and character will not allow him to do that and either he will continue on until either we are relegated or he is shown the door.
At least the suns's shining where I am this morning.

Resign and receive nothing. Hang on and get a pay-off? I think I know which way 95% would go. The really poor thing yesterday (of which there were so many) was that we had adopted a new formation and included new personnel. But they did not seem to know their roles. The goals conceded were some of the poorest at this parish. We started well, but even during that period, a friend turned to me and asked me if i thought I knew what formation we were playing. I replied 4 at the back with a left back at right back. But for the next few moments I was less sure, because Colback clearly had a role in this set-up, but was culpable for the first two goals. It was as if without Cook, we had no leadership and no idea. That is on Ainsworth. Ainsworth was also poor at making changes, and I repeat that having Cannon on the bench and not using him in those circumstances is just daft. He is either fit or he is not and it is a waste of a seat on the bench. To send Kakay on to run around like a headless chicken just compounded the hopelessness of the situation. Very hard to see the manager coming back from a scoreline that should have been far worse if Blackburn had taken their chances. Imagine having lost by six or seven yesterday....

Long story short: As someone else astutely remarked somewhere else on this forum we have a squad and team that are sufficiently good to be at the least middle of this league. But we are bottom 3 and performing badly. Therefore: The fault lies with whom, and what remedy is needed? Do I need spell it out?!? ( at the risk of giving others or even myself palpitations.... is Michael Beale looking for work..... )

( at the risk of giving others or even myself palpitations.... is Michael Beale looking for work..... ) No palpitations - I would seriously throw the gauntlet down to Beale on a contract to the end of season and tell him to get us out of the mess he partly created and prove that he is a good coach. Big chance to redeem himself I do not expect we will do it, or that he would take it up or fans or some players would support it. It was I who remarked we had a good enough squad to get to mid table but as Ricky pointed out playing an unknown formation with players out of their normal position, better players on the bench unused and players clueless about what they have been told/asked to do is down to one person. In the short post match comments he gave to WLS he used the word 'I" 23 times - admirable to take pressure aware form players but to say the following is a joke if not deluded. “I’m a fighter and a scrapper. I’ll get this team out of this, no problem – I’ll get this team higher in the league. I’m going to work really hard to get out of this. But Ainsworth declared: “I’m a fighter and a scrapper. I’ll get this team out of this, no problem – I’ll get this team higher in the league. I’m going to work really hard to get out of this. “For some reason it’s not clicking at the moment. I’ve got to work really hard on the training ground and I will do that. I believe we’ve got a better squad than when I first came. It didn’t show today, but I’m super-confident we’ll get points. i can stand in the mirror and know I give my best. If that’s not good enough then I’ll be told. But at the moment I intend to keep going and make myself and these players better. I understand the criticism totally. And if that criticism stays with me and away from the players, then give it to me. I can take it. I’ll give my all. I’ll give absolutely everything until somebody tells me not to. I’m really pleased with the application of some of the young players here. I think we’ve got a good future. But in the present, we’ve got to get points on the board, otherwise we’ll be in a relegation battle. That wasn’t good enough and I know it. I apologise to the fans. I’m not saying that was an acceptable performance.” Sorry GA we are already in a nasty relegation position whatever you see in the mirror. Giving it all is not enough if know body knows what "all" is Edit: Rooney just left DC Utd by mutual consent. I hate the person but he certainly got team spirit, effort and loyalty at Derby ....just saying.

Well then let Ainsworth keep on managing til we are hopelessly unable to avoid relegation. Probably about mid February. If thats the boards wishes So be it. No definitely no. I am not a defeatist and never will be. Look at the records of clubs ,small and large who have been relegated to the First division over the last decade or two. A few bounce back after a couple of seasons, more take years to get back if at all and then struggle to stay up, while others quickly slide to lower leagues and even into the regional divisions of the national league and some even out of business. The idea of accepting relegation so we can "rebuild" is useless. Drop a division and we have stricter spending limits, decreased crowds, decreased TV money, decreased sponsorship and advertising, fire sale of any decent players plus the millstone of an aging ground that we already cannot afford to maintain or supervise on match days. Ability to attract or pay decent players is diminished further. We will still be down there or worse in 10 years time. If we cannot operate at a profit in the Championship we cannot operate at a profit in the lower leagues without a dramatic change in what we are and likely a move to a smaller ground or ground share. Willour owners keep putting their hands in their pockets to keep us alive , stick around knowing we have no future, no profit making ability, no way to recover their money or will they do the sensible thing , cut their losses and walk away. As I have said many a time - be careful what you wish for. With Sir Les gone and the board placing the future of the clubs in the hands of an individual based on sentiment rather than ability the future is gloomy at best unless they take action now.

Just get rid for his sake as much as ours.
This is only going one way now and hanging on in the forlorn hope that somehow he's going to turn this around is the epitome of stupidity.
It's like watching a guy who can't swim trying to convince you that he's not drowning as he carries on flailing his arms frantically in the water.

My sense for the immediate future of QPR, if we don't get a result at Huddersfield Gareth would and should be asked to leave.

My problem is that it was soooo bad on Saturday, I just cannot see how Gareth can come back from this. The team were ok until we scored, but the whole set up was wrong even before that, and that was down to him. I am not one for sacking the manager, and we all make mistakes, but he made some whoppers on Saturday. It was straight back to Watford for him, and much of that day was down to him. It seems we are sticking for now, but how much of that is because we cannot afford to sack him? Sad times.

It seems we are sticking for now, but how much of that is because we cannot afford to sack him? Sad times. The key points are in bold above, with which I agree 100% I have said it before but in all my time as an R's fan I have never once called for a manager to be sacked or resign - until now. The longer we leave it, the deeper in trouble we will be until we reach the point of no return. I wonder what would have happened if Sir Les had stayed - we will never know but putting in a manager with no real managerial experience at Championship level (and not too much as player at this level either) with no guidance or control from above was a recipe for disaster. In theory we may not be able to afford to sack him but compared to the lose of revenue if we are relegated and the loss in gate money this season as even hardened fans will soon start to vote with their feet, we will be worse off keeping him than letting him go. As he loves the club so much he should agree a decent package if he is so confident in his ability. He will never go of his own free will - too much ego and "I'm the best man" attitude and self belief at least publicly. If he cannot see what he is doing to the club he is blind and if he can see what he is doing he should put the club first and go. Now is the time - just started an international break and another in November to give the club time to find a new manager (Eustace?) and give the new man time to assess and change things around before we are back into 3 games a week. We will of course need to get through Huddersfield away WBA away Leicester at home Rotherham away and Bristol City ay home between the international breaks and hope still to be in touch - no problem says GA he will get 15 points from those 5 games. Even a player manager eg Cook could probably do better. I started R's life in the old Third Divisions and with age and health I do not want end up finishing where I started. Sad days indeed. Time to go quiet for a while I think until something maybe develops as the club and GA do not seem to get the message ...or do not care.

The whole situation is going to get toxic very quickly now.
I don't advocate just sacking managers for the sake of it, but I genuinely don't know what is going to be achieved by continuing with the current set up.
The club needs wholesale changes in the way it is managed, starting right at the top with Amit and co. But keeping Ainsworth and allowing us to haemorrhage more points in winnable games, and alienate a fan base even more than they already are, just puts us in a bigger relegation hole than we already are in.

There are no two ways about it in my book he has to go. I would prefer Eustace to be given another chance, certainly do not want Beale back. But right now id take Mickey Mouse.
Also this club needs to put its money in the frame to get us out of the financial mess we are in, instead of keep moaning about we have no money, because that is rubbish. The owners are loaded.

We have 5 games before the next break: Huddersfield (A) - WBA (A) - Leicester (H) - Rotherham (A) and Bristol City (H). The question is 'Will we be so far adrift by then that any appointment would be in preparation for relegation?' We have fallen so far: We cannot score goals We cannot take a corner or a set piece - we even do foul throws! Chair is played out wide and is playing his own game now - does not look up because he has little intention to pass. Repeatedly exploited through the RWB / RB slot - so the answer was to go to a back 4 & a left back rookie at right back. An eternity to make changes - then we send on the player we have dropped, who charges around like a headless chicken. Our keeper's distribution is awful, so teams encourage us to pass back to him to regain possession. Dykes & Armstrong is a daft combination - Dykes totally ineffective - watch him shine for Scotland. Willock shirks all tackles, waiting for his new club to call. Field remains a shining light, but so many of his bookings are through frustration. Dozzell has been an expensive failure. Colback is going to see regular red cards - one tackle on Saturday was very late, but missed the player. Hoofing the ball bypassing our midfield.... We are relegation certs now. Can we afford to sack Ainsworth - can we afford not to?

Can we afford to sack Ainsworth - can we afford not to? Must agree. I posted similar thoughts including our next 5 games in another thread and argued firmly that we will lose far more money with loss of fans this season and loss of various sources of income that would result from relegation, than it will cost to pay-off Ainsworth who I assume is not on a massive salary. The next five games could well bring us zero points on current form - we cannot score and cannot keep a clean sheet . By then it will already be an almost impossible task for a new man to repair. My only hopes are either that GA goes now, or he has another change of mind and gets away from his Watford and kick and rush modes, or the senior players take matters into their own hands. Otherwise we have to hope for Sheff Wed. to stay as they are and a couple of others to get 30 point FFP deductions - that's not what I want to see as our saviour.

I genuinely see no benefit keeping him on. All that will happen is that we will lose those games too and start getting cut adrift at the bottom.
If we could see small green shoots of recovery then that would be something to hang your hopes on that things might get better.
But, and let's be perfectly honest here, every week it gets progressively worse and this team finds new depths of ineptitude to sink to.
GA may delude himself that he's going to turn this around, but anyone with 2 brain cells can see that's not going to happen.

The really sad thing and reflection of where we are is that in the past there have been regulars calling for the head of the manager at the drop of a hat, as they are entitled to do. But now we have members of this board and elsewhere who collectively have hundreds of years of experience of supporting QPR and football in general, people who have never called for a manager to go, clearly stating the obvious that GA will only take us in one direction and the situation needs to be addressed urgently The worry is that without a DOF, who will be the decision maker or prompt any action? Amit and QPR board members who know little about everyday football, and are seemingly ignoring the fans do not fill me with confidence. The only hope would be Reilly who at least has experience in the sports field in the US. Meanwhile the club remains totally silent apart from GA's own spin that he is the right man for the job. Not even the dreaded "vote of confidence" noises going from the club. I we fans feel this way how bad must the players be feeling. Despite all the criticism of performances I am sure none of them want to be in this situation.

I really hoped GA would succeed, but that performance (granted I never watched the whole game, thankfully) suggested that he has long lost the dressing room and pretty much most if not all of the fans who previously stood up for him. He will eventually go because we all can see he's not going to turn it around and we will start getting cut adrift. I think even Sheffield Wednesday will overtake us soon. But they will sit on their hands and watch the hole we are in get wider and deeper before they actually take the needed remedial course of action.

Some good news from the International Break. Paul Smyth made his full international start for Northern Ireland, scored after 5 minutes and created a second after 11 minutes. Maybe because he was played in his true position as part of a front three rather than as a defensively struggling wing back in front of Kakay being targeted by every team we meet.
If Cannon does not start the next game, GA needs to be shot (no pun intended)
