For a season of PL money and then parachute payments I would take it as long as we do not spend money in the transfer market.
But look at the PL table after Sheff. Utd losing 0-8 at home to Newcastle yesterday.
The 3 promoted clubs are already adrift and fill the 3 PL relegation places. Between them they have played 16 league games without a win, have a combined total of 3 points, one draw each, a combined goal difference of minus 29 after conceding 41 goals and only scoring 12.
The gulf between PL and Championship gets wider every season. Is the pain of a season being hammered every week in the PL better than mid table Championship? - just a thought.

The 8-0 shellacking by newcastle of Sheff U quite a disaster. Hard to comprehend. Blades stopped playing imo. Our foray into the Premier never saw a loss like that. Burnley who were so unstoppable here are struggling too. The wealthy clubs are getting wealthier and buy-in better players. Our league is closer to poverty? Just a thought.

Sheffield United only just made it over the line last season, Boro nearly caught them and I did not fancy United's chances in the play-offs. But look at Boro now. United lost two key players, and their owners did not splash the cash, but it is all relative when thinking about QPR. United bought Cameron Archer for £20m, Hamer for £17m, McAtee for £12m and they had one of the best central defenders in the Championship in Ahmedhedzic. Their squad is worth upwards of £135m (Transfermarket). On Sunday, everything clicked for Newcastle, but I was struck by how Sheffield threw in the towel, frankly it could have been more. Ahmedhedzic looked a shadow of his former self. Archer was isolated and lost the ball when he was given it. Hamer & McAtee were overrun. Luton have tried to build more of a squad than signing big players, and for now they seem together as a unit. Burnley's problem is that they probably had it too easy last season. Even when they went behind, they always had something in the tank to bail them out - until they took on the mighty Rangers at home! But fast forward a few more years, and the gap is going to be even greater, and then there will be a call for no promotion or relegation, with 76 clubs competing for the honour of winning the Championship. Although the hope is a very long one, at least there is hope with the current structure.....but it is the hope that kills!

All very good comments on these posts about the "Gap" between the Premier League and the Championship which is getting wider.
Allow me to make a sweeping statement. The three promoted clubs Burnley Sheff Utd and Luton have no chance! Never did have. They are already doomed to relegation!

A few weeks ago I rambled about Scottish Football in the Beale thread and the fact that their league is a permanent two horse race.
The PL is starting to head that way but at least with a few more clubs who can compete.
I would not be surprised if in a few years time the PL will reduce to 12 teams allowing them time (and money) for their own mini league while giving them more time to concentrate on European football. Promotion from the championship could be allowed - one club per season but only if they win a 2 leg play-off with the PL bottom club.
That of course will mean dropping 8 clubs to the EFL leaving the EFL with 80 league clubs that can easily be divided into 4 divisions of 20.
Hats off (no pun intended) to Luton who after spending on their ground have kept their feet on the ground with their squad , not squandering the golden egg of PL money that will put them in a decent financial position for years. They have picked up good free transfers and are realistic about their chances and expectations of surviving more than one season.
Still back to the Championship and let's get that home win on Saturday. The defence is keeping the goals against down but we just need to score. Maybe time to just play Dykes upfront, put Armstrong on the bench as an impact player, give Chair and Willock the chance to rebuild their partnership, or even play Kolli who to me may not frighten defenders as much as Armstrong but gut feel is he will stay on side more and knows how to find the net.

Absolutely want promotion. But as I said (before) the last two times; we need to ACCEPT we'll be going right down. And use that money wisely. But QPR didn't. (And that's been true for many other clubs)
They totally destroyed the football system when they did the vast financial disparity between divisions and the vast parachute payments.
But if we're not going forward (or running to keep in place); we'll be going backwards and downwards
And assuming Luton have done it wisely; they could be well set up after this humliation

I do have mixed feelings about promotion though. The joy of winning promotion is certainly more enjoyable than getting thumped eight nil.
