Beat Peterborough 7-1 away this afternoon. Kolli came on as a sub and scored two very good goals - he is a talent. Kelman also started the game and scored twice. Peterborough playing in the cup tonight, so played a pretty young side, but even still. Only slight concern was that Clark-Salter was reported to be starting the game, but he did not. Perhaps WLS got it wrong, or perhaps he picked up an injury sat on the bench on Saturday. Those half time walm ups look tame to me, but perhaps not for JCS.

Glad to see someone still posting 2 good strikes - not sure he would be given that much room in the Championship but worth giving him the chance. Cannot be worse than some we have missed. Re Sir Les someone posted days ago that all our problems are down to to him not signing a striker. Pathetic argument imo - our problems run much deeper than that plus just look at how many clubs are struggling to find a decent striker. If you have 50 million odd to spend then you can otherwise demand exceeds supply, prices go up and we are out of the game. Best bet is the likes of a Kolli or Armstrong breaking through - until they are poached away. Interesting comments in a Ainsworth interview a couple of days ago - almost implied we have to take our time and protect him as he has to play for Scotland! I think he might have meant we have to manage his game time as he will not get a break during the internationals but even so if he is fit he should play this weekend - he has just had a couple of weeks break to make up for missing tehinternational break. JCS going to play , not in the squad yesterday. Maybe WLS got it wrong or ............? I'm sure we are not selling him this week. No sign of Willock either - would have been an ideal game to give him 45 minutes. He went off due to tiredness against Ipswich and not been see or heard of since. If he was just tired why could he not even make the squad at Southampton. Maybe someone is looking to take him on a cut price deal or loan - or more likely we want to shift him and get a new face in.

Yes, not only the message boards very quiet, but the window generally is pretty low key. I agree that Kolli was given space and you would expect a senior keeper to do better, but good to see a precocious talent developing. It made me think that if, as I suspect, Martin will join after the window closes as a free agent, it may well set the likes of Armstrong and Kolli back in their development. I quite like them to be at least on the bench, coming on, developing with the first team. Kelman actually did quite well yesterday as well. I was surprised the fixture went ahead with Peterborough playing that evening, I wondered if the main purpose was to showcase some of the squad for loan deals. The younger ones are not governed by the window closing, they would count as apprenticeship arrangements.

The younger ones are not governed by the window closing, they would count as apprenticeship arrangements. Certainly an interesting situation. Given where we are it would be good to see Armstrong and Kolli playing together but realistically only room for one in a starting line up but I think both should be first names on the bench at a minimum, and useful to have some young legs to come on in the now never ending games. Of the little I have now seen of Kolli I would probably put him down as a better long term prospect than Armstrong, more skillful if maybe less physical. Armstrong's next step is to learn the off-side law - too often causing breaks to end although unlucky to be marginally off for his disallowed "goal" at Southampton. The Martin situation worries me a bit. If he rejoins he could become a block for the couple we have coming through but if he is on standby as a replacement or sub for an injured or tired Dykes it would not be so bad. If we have Dykes, Martin, Armstrong, Kolli and Smyth, plus the chance of Willock and Chair both being fit Ainsworth will have a pleasant choice of having to decide who to play - maybe rotate which is not my favourite route but with the number of subs allowed they could all make the match day squad. I am not expecting any signings during the window, maybe a free agent after it closes the best we can hope for. We missed out on our rumoured loans of Moran and Stansfield which says much either about our finances or the club not being seen as a good place to put out talent to gain experience. Surprised we have not been linked with Luke Freeman who just bought out his contract to become a free agent but I would not be in favour of brining in another attacking midfielder. Our right side is still our weak spot especially with Kakay and Albert seemingly being used as a versatile wing back or winger. Eze does not seem to be going anywhere soon so we are where we are and no changes likely apart from outgoing loans.

Yes that was a great result and performance. I was at the Wigan training ground 2 weeks ago to see the R's defeat Wigan 3-2 after being two goals down. Excellent entertainment. Teddy Lawrence scored 2 If you may recall Kolli and Lawrence were the stand out "Whizz Kids" last season when R's beat Spurs in the FA Youth Cup..... I say give both of them a run in the first team squad. Thereby speaks a radical
