Well that is going to be.....interesting! No Willock and no Kelman - if Kelman is not injured then presumably he is being sold - maybe back to Orient. Resting Cook, Paal, Chair, Armstrong and Smyth is hard to argue with in the circumstances. Keepers often rotated for the cup. There is probably a case for Field to be rested as well. With the exception of Fox & Paal, the bench is made up of novices. Walsh, Drewe, Kolli, Balla, Aoraha, Pedder and Rendall making one of our youngest bench ever. Quite a statement from Ainsworth.

Not exactly filling me with confidence of getting a result.

Taking off Dykes in a game that could go to penalties is also interesting.

Archer was a concussion sub at half time today. So we used 6 substitutes. I think that rules him out for Saturday's game. Pretty jinxed that guy - injured both times he has been selected.

I went to the game, Norwich had to bring a lot of their first team to beat our mixture of youth and senior. Could be a costly night for us, Dykes took a big knock, Archer too. A couple of the fringe players also looked like they had knocks after coming off. A much as I love Adomah, he just doesn't have the pace any more and was a weak link for us.

Has Kelman really gone - I cannot find it reported anywhere. If he has I cannot say I am disappointed as I do not think he is or will be a Championship level striker. IF he has gone maybe a sign that we have a loan or signing lined up, or just an amazingly quick change of opinion after starting him Watford. Dykes injury is a worry - a heavy knock on the knee can be a quick thing to get over - or if it did a bit of damage it could be a couple of months - doubt if the club will say much for a while. Ainsworth says he has good options if Dykes misses the next game - wonder how he would play that - maybe Armstrong upfront and bring in one of our no 10's? If Dykes is going to be out for a while we definitely need to hit the loan market.

If Dykes is going to be out for a while we definitely need to hit the loan market. Well apparently Kelman was at the Orient game on Saturday having not travelled to Cardiff with QPR. He was with the Orient fans. Subsequently, it is all over Orient social media that he has signed a two-year permanent deal. Some ITK pundits have then posted it on Twitter. But Ainsworth does not help himself with his interviews. I would rather he said that he will not answer that question. Instead, we get the same drivel, not wanting to hang his players out, defending them at all costs, the polar opposite of Critchley. Dobson handles the media much better, and I think that Gareth should think about letting him do more. In the case of Kelman, it is 'He is part of my plans going forward'. Watch this space for a 'He is a great character, I wish him all the best'. Just like Willock, we extended Kelman's contract so that we could extract some pennies for him - much needed pennies. Until official though, 'He is very much part of our plans'. footballleagueworld.co.uk/qprs-gareth-ainsworth-outlines-clear-charlie-kelman-stance-as-leyton-orient-transfer-rumours-circle/

I'm sorry but I can't help feeling that the kelman saga shows the complete inadequacy of our academy. I believe he's been here for 4 years? Yet he's being looked at by Orient ! If our academy can't have a player for 4 years who's now 21 and at least get him up to championship standard. They really are wasting time and money.

If our academy can't have a player for 4 years who's now 21 and at least get him up to championship standard. They really are wasting time and money. We did send him out on loan to gain experience and he played the whole of last season at Orient so I do not think we can just blame the academy. We can ask about scouting but his record before we signed him looked like he had the potential to be a goal scoring talent but it did not work out. The fact that he is currently still with us rather than already being an Orient player I think is only because we extended is contract to try to get a few pennies for him in a transfer fee. Why he featured in pre-season and started at Watford is still beyond me - maybe to put him in the shop window and try to increase the pennies or maybe Ainsworth wanting to take a look at him at the higher level or maybe his style was more akin to the apparently now abandoned hoof ball. Next question becomes if Dykes is injured would we still let him go to Orient - I say yes as he is not going to fit in with us despite Ainsworth's comments.

Poor and tired looking defending - but was it even a Norwich throw in or should it have been ours and a hoof down the pitch to get to penalties? Not that our reserves would stand much chance at Bristol City anyway.

it was our throw in , referee was definitely with Norwich , when our players got fouled he just waved play on , if we fouled a player it was a yellow card , perhaps he should have been wearing their team colours 😀😀

Our defenders then stood appealing and formed up more to move forward than defend and basically they switched off for that moment - lesson to be learnt for the younger players. We may still have lost on penalties but conceding with the least touch of the ball after a ref mistake is not what the young team deserved against a more experienced Norwich team. Only worry apart from Dykes injury is that Albert seems to have lost a whole yard of pace over the summer and is no longer looking like a good sub/utility man. Gives his all but maybe not enough left in the tank - sad if true. Not to worry there is always the FA Cup.........
