not Dozzell starting again he is useless !!! we will get overrun in midfield because Field has to do the work of two as Dozzell is useless as I said how on earth does he start every week ?

Hope indeed - sign him up for 6 years now before anyone comes poaching then 50million required from anyone that does.

I would prefer to see any of the midfielders from the bench (including Albert) instead of Dozell or even give Larkeche a run and see what he can do - he is a defender after all. I know they will be out of position but what's to lose. We need a loan coming in there Tim I come back all is forgiven.

Credit where its due... We've been the better side . Very good shape. Smyth has looked dangerous all game defence has looked solid. We've chased alot down. ...let's keep it going.

It's taken a year but now Armstrong has that monkey off his back maybe we will see the goalscoring everyone says he has.

Bergovic - experience Fox -Experience Cook - Experience Doubt we will see that core defence collapse too often but we do not want to get into time wasting and have these experienced legs playing 20 minutes extra time. Add Colback to Field in defensive midfield and we start to look a bit more solid. Then we "just" have to get the goalscoring going and fix the home form that was so bad last year. Still have our weak spots especially when we pick up an injury or two so hoping for a bit more activity in the window but we will see. Cannot believe Willock is crocked again.

Sinclair Assist, Paal goal.
That was beautiful. His assist was so composed and mature too.

Bit of a turnaround from last week - long way to go but a step in the right direction.
Now the long wait in silence to find out how badly Smyth and Armstrong are injured - takes the edge of a good 3 points.

Superb result although I think Cardiff are going v to struggle all season Yeap good result - will Cardiff struggle? did ok at Leeds last week. Amazing how many fan groups (including ours) think their team will struggle this season. I have the feeling the Championship will the same as usual anyone can beat anyone and shocks every week.

Was there a change in style of play today?

If Cardiff play in the leisurely way they did today with none of the urgency they showed in the first half against Leeds they will struggle. Ramsey is a shadow of the player he was and his mistake to lose possession and gift us the opportunity for Sinclair to make a mature assist has reminded Cardiff fans even a returning hero will not get any respect from the opposition. We played on the break and capitalised on their mistakes. It’s a welcome result for us but there are plenty of opposition teams that will not be so lax.
2 games in and only 2 teams have 100% record and even those 4 games comprised of 3 that were by a margin of a single goal. I still think a couple of big boys will run away at the top but the chasing pack will all be within a few points of each other from 3rd down to well below half way and a few good results will make the difference. They’ll be a second pack of 8 or so that will be battling at the bottom and we’ll be among those.

For me Paul Smyth was the outstanding player, best wing play since Osay Samuel days. Hope the lad can be consistent and cement his place in the team.

Was there a change in style of play today? In Ainsworth's own words: "A lot better than last week. Last week was my fault. My system, my way of setting the boys up and I didn't give them the best chance of succeeding. "It's been a big week for me and that's a big day for me today. I can't thank the guys enough for their work on the training ground. I really did think how can I get the best out of the players I've got, rather than think what's brought me success over the years."We changed, we signed again, Steve Cook is a good addition, and I can't thank the boys enough for their efforts. They deserved that result. They've delivered and they'll enjoy that one."
Not proud of it but exactly what I have been posting for the last couple of weeks - play football to the strengths of the players we have and do not try to convert them out of date lower league Hoofball. As I also said I will take my hat off to Ainsworth he makes that change - and sticks to it so we wait and see. Hopefully with Cook in n we can stem the flow of goals conceded but now need to score a few more. This league will be so tight again goal difference is vital - last season we were basically the worst in the league in that respect. Some early surprises just 2 games in but are they really surprises? Boro pointless and goals after being the play-offs but that often happens (eg Reading and Boro having gambled to get promotion have now offloaded much of last years stars to stay within FFP - sound familiar. Waiting for th end of the month to see what else happens in etc window and then up to the international break to see how teams are blending.

Maybe our performance at Watford lured them into a false sense of security but more likely the league is full of mediocre teams who will blow host and cold. Finance has restricted transfer activity in the Championship so far this window so we are back to the teams relegated using their extra cash and aiming for the top and probably one or two of the promoted teams struggling. Ipswich riding the wave of confidence from their promotion - let's hope we knock them back and get our home season off to a good start next week. It was our home form that really killed us last year and I do not want to see a repeat this season although I expect many teams will still sit back and try to pick us off on the break.

I've been thinking about the game all weekend, there was a massive improvement and the new players have given us something to build on. Kakay had a good game but he is 100% our week link and we can all see what happens when he has a bad day. The current team can keep us in the league but one or 2 injuries and we are going down.
Cardiff were not very good, a change in player and formation meant that we had to hang on for the last 15 / 20 mins. They hit the bar in the last few mins of normal time and that could have been a game changer. A long season ahead but in a much happier place than last week.
Our fitness will get better and better so the cramp we saw from several players will not happen and we can play the full 110 minutes
Hope we can get a couple of decent loans in and Willock gone, i don't buy the injury comment, i think he wants out and we want him out.

Agree with some of that but that's football - it is all if's and buts. If Ramsay's shot that hit the bar had gone in, if Armstrong had panicked and not waited for Paal. Practically every game especially in this division where teams are so even is decided by fine margins, a slice of luck or brilliance, a mistake or a bad ref decision. Last week Cardiff got glowing reports for their performance at Leeds even if they threw away a point, this week they are getting slated as relegation fodder.
Agree we would really like a couple of more signings but if Smyth and Armstrong come good and we have the promise of people like Dixon Bonner and Richards all is not lost. So we may be wanting a couple to go straight into the team which will be difficult to find or are we saying add a couple of squad players to come from the bench - when we have just cleared out people who could do that. We have to face the fact that we are trying to work with a smaller squad so if we do for example get a Kakay replacement we will need to send Drew out on loan. Also if we do sign someone and Dunne or JCS get fit we will be overloaded if we play a back 3 - all if's and but's again of course.
Re Willock - who knows. After 10 games last season I could see that here would be a lot of interest in him but his virtual absence of game time since January is hardly going to attract anyone, and leaving him out of the squad is not going to help sell him if we want him out. Ainsworth says he rates him highly so we will see.
