On the bright side if they all stay and are all fit we can at least name a starting 11 plus the 9 allowed subs.
On the dark side, overall that is the weakest looking squad I can recall for some time - probably since last time we were in League One. There are a few good players in there but no strength in depth and we if lose 2 03 3 during this window it looks worse.
But being a glass half full man there is a nucleus to build on but we need some experienced pros who can get stuck in. Start with Martin as the obvious then I have no idea who Ainsworth might go for or how many he will be allowed to sign. I suppose that all depends on who we sell and what we get for them.

We will get a 2 or 3 loan players, if i recall these tend to join just before the season starts as bigger teams want to get their business done first.

Sort of agree - but more likely they will only be on board at the end of the window which is a month into the season. Back to my usual complaint that the window should close the day before the first match. It will be interesting as Ainsworth seems to be more in favour of getting cheap/free signings committed to the club rather than loading up loanees who can lose interest as we have seen. But beggars cannot be choosers. All quiet on the rumour that Tim I will stay for another season - maybe with Willock or Dieng being the price?.

I think that Ainsworth is on a hiding to nothing this window. We have little or no cash. We will have to sell our better players on the cheap. He inherited a busted flush. Whatever he does from there, will invite critics at every juncture. We have only signed two players - and I am happy with both. They both fit the brief and were free. We are linked with many others. This message board is quite sober, but others can be venomous. Dominic Gape was out of contract at Wycombe - he has a poor injury record, but he fits a role we needed to fill. I was surprised when we were linked with him. But nothing has come of that one and the player is now training with Stockport. The lesson is that we have to judge who actually arrives and not who doesn't, there is a lot of clickbait out there. WLS confirmed that we want Lewis Wing - but there are clearly obstacles - not least competition - and yet many see him as an out of contract third tier player. If he signs for someone else, then it will be dogs abuse that we could not even sign him. Max Power was wanted apparently. He always plays well against us. Out of contract, cheap. Abuse because he is 29 and of poor standard. Then abuse because we could not even secure him. Reaction to Josh Scowen..... Regan Poole would be an excellent signing. One of the best right backs in the third tier and captain as well. Twitterati do not believe he is good enough for QPR. I think we will lose out to a bigger club. Gareth has asked for support if we get off to a dodgy start and the reaction has been to slate him for being negative. As said above, the first month is likely to be without loanees, four of the first five games are away, with no easier games. I am expecting a tough start. But he took the job knowing the challenges. He has no money, if anyone wants to buy anyone, we will sell, but they are hardly queueing at the door with a bag marked 'swag'. The club is trying to manage expectations ahead of a tough year, starting from a low base and a depleted squad. Sit in and clench and hope for the best I guess.

Ainsworth's Journeymen looks like to me. This is not being critical of Gareth. Although not the most sophisticated of Managers he always gives it 100% whether as player coach or Manager. Decent Bloke too. I'm sure he will get the best out of what we have got or will get.
Ricky makes a good comment about managing expectations.
QPR Supporters must get real. The promotion/play off boat has long since sailed under the last 15 months of Warburton and the tenure of Beale(top of the league remember) and will be some time before this vessel returns to the shores of Loftus Rd

Since January 22, we have lost the following from the wage bill: Bonne, Bettache, Thomas, Lowe, Laird, Iroegbunam, Roberts, Owens, Amos, Balogun ( ), Shodipo, Alfa, Masterson, Johansen, Martin and Mahoney(loan). That must have had a big impact on our wage bill. Plus, last Summer we lost: Wallace, Barbet, Austin, Ball, Odubajo, Marshall, Westwood, Barnes & Ramkilde. Our remaining high earners are said to be: Adomah, Richards, and Clarke-Salter - and probably Dykes now. I am not sure we can go much lower and still play football. There are some huge names and salaries in that list. I just hope it means that we are not looking for as bigger FFP shortfall as reported.

I really don't get all the panic posts on message boards and Twitter about the number of players we currently have.
The new season is 30 days away and the window is open even longer than that.
This is QPR. One thing you can be sure of with this club is that there will always be signings. Lots of em.
People need to chill.

However, being realistic, we are heavily dependent on free signings, who are currently not getting paid, so any half decent will be signed up pretty soon. After hey have gone, we drop to the not so good available and then..... The loans will only arrive very late, and I suspect if Chair is sold, that too will be very late. If we had cash to spend, the situation would be very different. We could wait for prices to drop, but alas, unless we sell big, or Eze moves on, we are shopping in the cut price retailers. Usually, we have tapped up who we want to sign, but I suspect that we could not promise anything until we could be sure of what division we were in. It also appears that any players that Ferdinand had earmarked were not the ones Ainsworth wanted. So no need to panic, but room for nervous caution.

Not panic just stating the way things are. Yes there have usually been lots of signings but we are in a different position now. Financially the first target is to stay within FFP or we will get hit hard by the EFL. But even staying within FFP is not enough. We have been losing a million or so every month and without bigger attendances (unlikely without a promotion bid and bigger ground), more sponsorship (unlikely in our position) or a big sale (we have no more Eze's so forget that) we are stuck in a steady downhill spiral. So while we may see some signings I expect there to be less than in previous windows and then the issue is what quality will they be given our constraints. The time to panic (if there is a time) will be if we do not get some new faces in the door during this window. So discussing it is not panic but facing facts and speculating on possibilities. The message board would otherwise be silent. The switch of the Watford game makes our start even harder so with a new team being put together we may well get off to a poor start and then the Twittersphere and even some on this board will really explode. How many even on here hit the "we are doomed" "we deserve to be relegated" "we are the worst team in the league" buttons near the end of last season including a few from the man now telling people to chill.

It wasn’t actually aimed at you, as your post wasn’t one of the ‘Sky is falling’ posts I see on sites like WATRB and on Twitter, so sorry if it appeared I was having a go at you. You are definitely one of the most reasonable and readable posters on here.

You are definitely one of the most reasonable and readable posters on here. No problem Nomar and no offence taken. Likewise no offence meant to you - it was more my general shot across the bows to a small number of others who only post on here when they have something negative to say. Luckily I stay away from the more extreme boards and Twitter as I really do not appreciate reading people continuously running down everything about the club I have supported the whole of my life. No matter how bad things get I'll still keep supporting but without sticking my head in the sand. Sure I'll discuss the issues and maybe have some negative opinions on events but that's what the board is for. Thanks for the kind words as well.
