Loads of our fans wanted him and I’m not sure why.
He was another one of Beale’s boys who downed tools as soon as Daddy left home. Basically spent half a season looking for a soft spot to lie down on so he could have a month off to rest.
Not interested in players like that.

They only paid £750k for him though. Says a lot for how valuations have dropped post Covid. I thought he would have cost a lot more.

I thought he was a good one to have on loan and in some games was excellent while in others he disappeared. He clearly had an attitude problem after Beale left and with the behind the scenes goings on at the club.
At 750k I think Brum have got a good deal - if he puts his mind to it and plays as he can. It also shows that either Ainsworth did not want him or how limited we are with transfer fees. We need a right back and to my mind he would have been a good purchase but probably shot himself in the foot with his lack of commitment which surely would have changed if he was our player.
So Brum have signed 2 of our "PL" loanees from last season - it will be interesting to see how both perform. Waiting now to see if the rumours about Tim I. staying with us for another season come true - or maybe he will prefer a season closer to home with Brum!

Good player, fantastic deal for Birmingham at that value, sort of deal we should be looking at. Yeah he may have gone missing for a few months but then so did 90% of the QPR team , so may not all be down to him. Does Eustace want all our old players

We had a clause to purchase Robers for £4m, Laird was talked about in terms of £5m+. Roberts was released by Leeds for £250k - even though they are in the Championship. Manchester United had a one-year option on Laird but chose to sell him instead for £750k. So Brum pick up players who were supposed to be worth £9m this time last year for £1m. That suggests that their parent clubs were highly suspicious of their attitudes or current potential. They no doubt will have hefty sell-on clauses - but even so, massive, massive depreciation in value. Leeds took Roberts back to assess what was going on - and then sent him back to QPR - who then never selected him. Whatever was going on behind the scenes at QPR last season, parent clubs clearly were well informed and have acted. Brum may well have got bargains - especially with Laird. Superb at the start of the season, excellent at Burnley, AWOL other times. They both have had a big wake up call.

Any decent right backs going for free that we can pick up??
