But, I thought, according to our QPR expert on Twitter that everyone was falling over themselves to leave the club....

As much as I used to hope we might get someone better , it has to be good news at this point. Who’s the Twitter expert Nomar?

That’s a great bit of business to tie him in to a long contract and also pleased he has shown us some loyalty as he had plenty of suitors.
Really thought he’d be out the door.

Nice to see a player committing to the club. And fair play to Lyndon he was pretty scathing of Beale when he went, but it would of been easy to have gone to Rangers. He didn't some players do have principles after all.

Presumably the new contract contains a release clause and valuation. I wonder what that valuation is... But still worth securing his services for what he represents to the team /squad. With the huge turnover in playing staff, Dykes staying will help attract other signings and takes away the urgency to find a prolific goal scorer costing peanuts. No doubt when he eventually moves on there will be howls about the crazy low valuation, but our negotiation strength is / was pretty low.

No doubt when he eventually moves on there will be howls about the crazy low valuation, but our negotiation strength is / was pretty low. Great news he is staying and maybe a sign that we will keep more of the core squad. Not only does it keep him with us but gives time for his transfer value to rebuild. Maybe also a sign that the rumoured interest from other clubs was not so great. At least he has more loyalty than Beale. However while it takes away some urgency I do not think it totally stops the need to find a prolific goalscorer - Dykes strength is hold up and assists even though he ended the season as our top scorer. Maybe with a different style of play under Ainsworth he can become a 20 goal a season striker. It seems we are getting Smyth back and have Armstrong as a prospect but a proven striker to play off Dykes would be good. Maybe Willock will get fit and motivated and play a whole season as he started last season then we may see some goals. PS Where does Wells stand with Bristol City at the moment ?

The vibe is so bad out there at the moment, under Ainsworth thre is very low expectation, it may work to his advantage. Ever the optimist........

Our beloved King of Zamunda is there, but that's because he gleefully tweeted that players were falling over themselves to leave, so it got dug up. His words of wisdom can now be found regarding the switch of opening day venue

Is he the guy itk, the one that tipped off about Les? No. He goes by the moniker King of Zamunda. Hence Fake King of Fake Kingdom, or Fake King for short.

Now if only Dykes would start really scoring. 6 goals (?) for a main striker are not good stats. However, it is obvious to everyone, including a blind man, that he needs another player up there beside him. Playing the Lonegunman will always be a struggle, even with Hoof ball. Opposition defences can rest easy. 4 onto 1 is not hard.

Opposition defences can rest easy. 4 onto 1 is not hard. I think that we will discover why Dykes extended in the fullness of time. I am pleased he is staying, but I wonder what compromise the club had to make. I doubt it was just wages. But I have watched Dykes for a long time. TV does not pick up the number of runs he makes to no avail. Chair so rarely passes to him, yet will always pass to Willock if he is playing. I think that Dykes has no shortage of effort for QPR and Scotland, but the main difference is the service. Our crossing from the full backs has been woeful ever since he has been at the club - Paal is probably the best of the bunch. So Smyth is a key part of getting the best out of Dykes (as would Wing be) and I await the identity of our first choice right back and back up left back. I would be happy for Chair to depart, to further his career, to aid the change in style, to provide a team based creativity - rather than depending on one man's exceptional skill, at this juncture. Yeah I know.....Marsh, Bowles, Adel, Eze etc. etc. I loved them all! Perhaps we have all been spoilt!
