Coaching youth football

I’ve been posting and reading your posts here for many years now. Sorry, hope you don’t mind a moment of blatant football related self trumpet blowing.

I’m a youth football coach with Frome Town United and I got awarded Coach of the Season at our club’s presentation at the weekend. Club has over 70 coaches and literally hundreds of boys and girls teams so that’s not bad.

My twin lads also won awards and now have a chance to play for Frome Town FC’s u18s.

I know it’s not top level football but there are amazing grassroots clubs all over the country with countless volunteers giving their time. Next time the Rs aren’t playing, check out if your local grassroots team have a game. They all need the support.

Anyhow, I’m a proud Dad 👍

Now if you could find another Eze or Sterling playing for Frome and point them in the R's direction we would give you the freedom of Loftus Road for life.

The thing is, non league football is actually gaining in popularity and attendances in games at any level are increasing. I think the likes of the EPL have successfully out priced themselves and locals are now rediscovering what is great about football - Grassroots. Good job with your coaching.

My wife's cousin and his wife are both life-long Arsenal fans and were season ticket holders, but a few years ago, they switched to their local team (Leyton Orient) and now go to every game, home and away, only watching Arsenal when they're on TV.
