A French goal after 5 minutes made for a great game of football last night. Credit to Morocco who played some delightful attacking football that sadly lacked someone who could finish it off. I think we all know that Illias could have made a difference to their team last night but it was not to be and it is sad to see that he has had to sit out the whole tournament without a single appearance. Yes he may get on in the “dead rubber” game but that’s little compensation and he would be better off coming home to us for Saturday.
Apparently our new gaffer says he wants us to play “on the front foot, attacking football”, well we will soon find out if that’s the case or just another sound byte. One thing I am convinced about though is that if England had played that way against the French the Final would look very different.

Chances are that the unused players will be given a game in the 3rd place play-off . Given the way our luck is going, I hope not as I can just imagine Chair getting crocked in a meaningless game against a not so subtle team and missing the rest of the season .
Front foot attacking football - yes but Critchley has built that on have a tight defence first. No good scoring 3 and letting in 4.
His Blackpool days started on the front foot, shipped a load of goals and losses and then changed style until they could attack more and win
I am not expecting any massive change of style in the first few games and hope fans give him the chance to settle in and work things out. No rush to judgement after 3 or 4 games.
