He seemed to be quite sluggish to be honest. Walked a lot during his games for the Roar. I was wondering if his legs were gone. I expected him to make mincemeat out of A League defences and he only scored a couple.

I thought he was off the pace last season and had trouble lasting 90 minutes which is why we did not play him enough games to kick in his year extension. Heading for Australia was a clear sign that he would not get a decent job in England imo.
Sadly I think his playing days are probably over - maybe all those stories about his knees had some truth in them and they have finally caught up with him. Of course it could also be his family did not settle or did not move with him so he he is coming home.
If he came back to us I would only take him as a coach for our strikers (who?) and then not on the money he earned as a player.
Wish him all the best anyway and it would be good if he came along to watch a few of our games
