Poor first half but second half was a complete turnaround. Johansen (probably had his worst 45 mins for us) and particularly Field took hold of the midfield and we fed the ball wide more. Dunne solid at the back again, I like the way he is aggressive with attacking the ball and defends to get ahead of the striker. Great signing given it was a free and he is still relatively young. Would like us to sign a couple of attacking players as our bench lacks genuine game changers in midfield and wings and we could also do with a bit more youth and pace in the squad. However to be where we are is testament to Warburton and the team. If we can add some pace then I think we can give the top 2 a real go which is something we could have only dreamed of at start of season! Agree with that - although Dunne cost us £900k. But still a bargain

Thats 3 good wins in a row even while we were not at our best - but now I am going to get greedy and probably jinx things.
The wins are great but many are by the odd goal. There is a long way to go still, but the top places in this league could well be decided on goal difference at the end of season. So I would really like to see us stuff 5 or 6 past a couple of teams to give us that extra edge. Fulham just hit 13 in 2 games so it can be done - but they do have a goal machine in Mitrovic.
On the other hand if we keep winning enough games by the odd goal we can forget about goal difference. We have an important run now through to the end of February ending with the away game at Blackburn and now is the right time to have another good run.

I’m more worried us about being hard to beat and winning games. Not bothered about about 5-0 wins to be honest, we have picked up more points per game than any other Championship team since December 2020. That’s pretty solid and means more to me than 5-0 wins really. If we kept this ratio up until the end of the season would be around the 81 points mark which would be beyond amazing.

Yes - as I said if we keep winning enough games we can forget about goal difference. 81 points would be amazing and the only point I was making is that if get 81 points and finish third by a couple of goals on goal difference I would feel pretty sick. The other thing I am keeping an eye on is that Dickie and Johansen are both picking up regular yellow cards at a pace to get at least 2 match bans which could turn into another 3 matches if they get a few more after a first ban. The bigger worry would be losing Dickie for 2 or 5 games so Jordy needs to get fit or we need to get cover at the back even if means recalling Masterson.

Great minds, I was going to do a post on the yellow card situation, I am not too concerned on Johansson as I think Dozzell and Amos offer great replacements but dickie is the major one.

Ideally we need not to lose to any of the chasing pack over the current weeks. So I think Coventry this week, Boro, Huddersfield, Stoke, Forest, if we can avoid losing these matches I think we will pick up points off the mid and bottom teams. if we can get a draw at Coventry I would be extremely happy.

There was a cracking atmosphere in the ground on Saturday, the fans were well up for it. No coincidence it was a 3pm KO. Our last Saturday 3pm home KO was on the 2nd of October!

Those 5 games are already starting to look like 6 pointers. Win them all and I will be smiling I agree the first thing is not to lose them but we should really be aiming to get 10 points from the 5

Lets just focus on Coventry and worry about the rest after that. Just got my tickets and cant wait to joining the other 3900+ fans going. I agree the players should just be concentrating on one game at a time. Maybe the manager has to think a bit further ahead with the schedule in case he needs to rotate players. But for fans we are in an exciting position at an important time in the season where results over the next 6 weeks could have a major impact on the future of the club. So, especially for those of us who can no longer get to games, just thinking about the next game is boring and takes the fun out of things. Using this board to discuss the future and get other peoples views is what the board is all about for imo. I will keep looking at the table, statistics and future games and possibilities of what could happen either way. Maybe I'll just keep my thoughts to myself and see discussion on the board die completely other than forecasting the next score and maybe commenting after the next game. Enjoy the trip to Coventry - never really enjoyed it my travelling days but lets hope to come away with 3 points.
