Nice touch - although a little Wycombe!

I think QPR are trying to have it both ways: Are we QPR from 1882 or 1886 when the two sides merged?

The clubs post does say 140 years since the first foundations.
The first foundations of the club were St Judes Institute and Christchurch Rangers as far as I know so I see nothing wrong in the statement and can see nothing wrong in 4 years time celebrating the creation of the QPR name.
Take a look at Man City - founded in 1880 as St Marks before becoming Ardwick Association in 1887 and then Man City in 1894.
Man Utd founded as Newton Heath in 1878 before becoming Man Utd in 1902
In fact the majority of surviving clubs from that era went through mergers and name changes but they all started somewhere.
Now when it comes to MK Dons there is a potential point of debate as with Accrington Stanley
EDIT Highlighting events like this should lead to the younger or even older fans taking an interest and learning the history of the club - more so than naming a stand after one good player. The Offie does explain the history and that this shirt was worn by Christchurch Rangers in 1882, 4 years before merging with St Judes so is consistent with the Community Trust plaque. Of course the club is trying to make some cash by selling the replica's but in these times why not take any opportunity.

I think this whole 1882 v 1886 is getting boring now. Both are correct depending on which way you look at it. As wembley says, foundations v name. Yes, Jim Gregory interpreted it in a way to make out cup final appearance but so what? He wasn't wrong.
Let's move on lest it all gets dragged up in 10 years.

Agree 100% - The only reason I posted was I did not appreciate the "club trying to have it both ways" comment. Sounded like anything to run the club down.

Nice Jersey despite the rest of it. The best news is, is that we are older than Chelski!!
