Thought this may be worth a thread to keep an eye on how our 3 lads are doing. Maybe while they are there they can find a good CB who would like a move to England!
On a slightly worrying note several main French newspapers are reporting today that they think they have uncovered a new possibly worse variant of Covid originating in Cameroon - host of the AFCON.
Hope they are wrong - not just because of the impact on football.

Good news is Seny played. Bad news is he only played due to the no 1 having Covid.
Good news is he kept a clean sheet. Bad news is Senegal won with a 97th minute penalty and will almost certainly progress into the later stages so no quick return home for Seny.
Chair only makes it on the bench for Morocco's game starting shortly. At least he can have a rest and not get injured on the bench.

Chair didn't get on - he is number 13..... don't even think it!

And now Andre Gray is off to play 3 games for Jamaica in late January /early February. Travel dates not published but he will be out for at least 3 games. Tell Charlie and Dykes to keep fit!

What a joke. Tunisia v's Mali game ended by the ref after 85 minutes, restarted and ended by the ref again before the 90 minutes, never mind added time which should have been approx 5 minutes at least.. Tried to restart 20 minutes later with a substitute ref but it did not happen as one team came back to the pitch and the other said their players were taking ice baths and could not comeback.
The excuse - it was hot and the ref had heat stroke! So what chance for the World Cup in Qatar with temperatures much higher.
Plus what does Ian Wright and The Cameroon FA and others now say about the AFCON, that they said needs to be shown more respect as one of the top competitions in the world. Meanwhile we and other clubs suffer while our players are taken away mid season or what is turning into a joke competition.
Rant over

It's about as valuable as the Confederations Cup. How come it gets held every year, it too, should be held every 4 years. It is a joke.

Seny made match saving save for Senegal as they played out a draw. Downside is that makes them almost 100% certain to go to the next stages and no early return to us. Still we have Marshall so wish Seny well in Africa. It will be interesting and disappointing if he loses his place once their first choice keeper gets past Covid.

Seny back on the bench for the 0-0 with Malawi. Senegal through to the group stages, winning the group with a win and two draws. Morocco have one more game to go but have already qualified. Sierra Leone are currently third in their group with two draws so Kakay might be home soon.

From the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/afcon-rs-round-up-180122/18th January 2022 AFCON R’s: Chair & Dieng head for knockout stagesMatt Webb @qpr MOROCCO (Ilias Chair) and Senegal (Seny Dieng) warmed up for the Africa Cup of Nations knockout stages with a draw apiece in their final group stage fixtures. Chair started in Morocco's 2-2 draw against Gabon but, in what looked to be a tactical substitution, was replaced just 31 minutes into his first appearance of the tournament. Meanwhile, after starting Senegal's first two group games, Dieng was an unused substitute in their stalemate with Malawi - as Chelsea's Edouard Mendy returned between the sticks after his spell in isolation owing to contracting Covid-19. Ossie Kakay will be hoping to make it a clean sweep in terms of qualification for QPR players when his Sierra Leone side take on Equatorial Guinea in their final Group E fixture on Thursday - kick-off 4pm GMT

If I've read it correctly, Sierra Leone aren't one of the best 4 3rd place teams so Kakay will be on his way home soon.

If I've read it correctly, Sierra Leone aren't one of the best 4 3rd place teams so Kakay will be on his way home soon. Yes Sierra Leone are out after losing 1-0 on Thursday. Kakay played at right back with Stephen Caulker at CB in a back 4. Sierra Leone had an 85th minute penalty saved - a goal would have put them through. The house of the striker who missed the penalty was put under police guard as a mob gathered to seek retribution for him missing - makes our Twitter key board warriors seem tame! Must admit I would have preferred Chair over Kakay to be coming home but I suppose he does give us some cover - if he is Covid free and once he gets through quarantine.

8 people killed and many injured in a crush trying to get into see the home country's game yesterday and they stilled played the whole match without the fans knowing until some picked it up on social media.
So much for the Cameroons FA and AFCON organisers pre-tournament claims it would be the best organised competition ever and should have the worlds respect.
Sad news.

Unsurprisingly, Seny is on the Bench against Cape Verde who have just had a 2nd player sent off. Still 0-0 with half an hour left.
