Interesting that Warbs says that we need another striker in the next couple of days – one with pace.
Yesterday, Charlie looked well off the pace, lots of experience, but the movement and pace was not there.
When Dykes came on, Coventry’s back line had a real handful for the first time.
But it is only the end of August and it must be questionable how much game-time we are going to get out of Charlie this season.
Another striker would probably allow Kelman to go out on loan and get more minutes and experience.
With Watford my closest club, locals here really do not rate Andre Gray. Lazy, bad attitude, goal shy, bad sort etc.
Perhaps he is a new man now he is the father of twins as of last week? Warbs and Les obviously think that they can rejuvenate him if the deal is viable. I am surprised we can even afford another one.
But as happy as I was with the result yesterday, I can see how we may well need a pacey forward if we are to challenge, especially if Dykes gets injured.
Meanwhile, Watford’s return to the Prem is in stark contrast to what has gone before. 11 new players through the door, costing very little, nearly all free transfers, and shifting out all their high earners – including Deeney and Gray. Deeney wants to sign for his boyhood club, Birmingham. Happy for us to avoid Deeney.
