I've told the story of how, until I was 8, I was an Arsenal fan but, being Shepherds Bush born & bred, my dad wouldn't take me to Highbury but dragged me to watch QPR instead. I ended up falling in love with the blue & white hoops and have many fond memories of going to games with him.
Sadly, dad passed away yesterday after a 2 year battle with dementia. One less Rs fan in the world but he'll remain in my heart for ever.

Marc, I am really sorry for your loss. My dad took me along to watch QPR when I started to show an interest in Chelsea - over 60 years ago. When he passed away in 1987 I lost my QPR soul mate as well as my dad. 34 years later, I still want to tell him how they are doing and miss him. When QPR is in the blood...... May your dad rest in peace, freed from the dreadful curse of dementia.

I’m still struggling daily without mine after losing him in the summer. I remember the great times when we watched QPR V Wolves together at Loftus Rd and really miss the chats we used to have about football and life in general. Take care in these difficult times Marc

We had an ongoing joke about how, whenever they won, he'd refer to them as 'my team' and, if they lost, they were 'your team'. I think that, when we win going forward, I'll look up and say 'your team, dad'.

I'm so very sorry to read this, Marc.
I hope that this association of QPR with your father and the memories of QPR and him - and of course all those other memories you have of him. and with him, are of some consolation.
Very much in my thoughts
Mike

Marc, sorry to hear of your loss. It strikes a chord with me, as I too was dragged down to Loftus road being smuggled into QPR with my dad and 2 uncles and their season tickets in South Africa road pre turnstiles. I'm fortunate that my father though approaching 80 and living in Bournemouth still loves to drag me to QPR whenever he gets up to London. It's great to have those cherished father and son memories that so many of us have forged at QPR to fall back on.

So many wonderful memories have resurfaced over the last few days, I've shed a few tears but I've also smiled. It's his funeral today and I'm grateful that we've only had to wait a few days. A friend of mine lost his mum this time last year and had to wait 6 weeks!

Sincerest condolences Marc.
You always are so positive on this Board. I bet that, to no small extent, that attribute comes from your Dad.

I hope the funeral was as you and he would have wanted, Marc.
Again in our thoughts.
I'm at the age when in last few years, I've lost my parents and Parents-in-law.
And definitely start to think ever-more about my own children eventually losing their parents.

Great story to tell Marc. Had a similar thing with my own father whom passed away nearly 5 years ago. I miss him to bits even now. Our Fish and Chips Friday night etc etc. Anyway, My sincerest condolences mate. There are no real words we can say to really help, but you know our intentions are sincere and our moral support is and always shall be here for you. Now, can we get your Dad to "assist" Dykes in the 18 yard box with scoring? Perhaps if we all pray nicely?

Thanks again for the kind words. The funeral went as expected although I'm not a fan of the "basicness" of Jewish funerals. Andy, if Dykes scores another goal and he flies into the back of the net along with the ball, you'll know what happened.
