Austin and Murray both do a job for us. Murray at 37 probably the only player near that age would still take. His Championship stats speak for themselves, probably better than Austin’s.
Glad we never got sucked into playing loads of money on Rhodes, IMO that would have been far worse.

thing that worries me about Charlie coming back he is a little bit injury prone I think Murray would be the better option anyway maybe it's just paper talk have to see how it pans out

He comes on as a late replacement blondish hair and doesn't do much. Darnell Furlong a much better effective QPR alumnus.

We have two Strikers that are not really setting the world alight. I don’t think we can be to fussy, both these two are improvements to me and if on an end of year deal, there isn’t much wrong with that.

We have two Strikers that are not really setting the world alight. I don’t think we can be to fussy, both these two are improvements to me and if on an end of year deal, there isn’t much wrong with that. Yeah, he is said to be earning £70k a week and is way out of our wage bracket. But if he wants to play for QPR and big Sam has decided that Charlie will not be in his 25 come the end of January then we may be paying quite a small proportion of his wages. Sam has played Charlie a few time since he arrived. I have seen him a couple of times and he has not been close to scoring. But I do not feel that our strikers are missing that many - even though they must be low on confidence. I feel that we are not playing to their strengths and that includes failing tp cross the ball early and reading Dykes fick ons. There even seems to be a reluctance to pass the ball to them at times. Charlie Austin thrives on service and he may be less tolerant with the likes of Bright's final ball decision making. But he will be equally inept unless we sort out the supply. But for me, if we do not freshen it up, the morale will sink lower and lower and so I think that Charlie signing would give us a good lift. It seems that Forest have made a late bid to hi-jack the deal - to add to their huge squad. But the key to me is that Asutin is 31 and Glenn Murray is 37. Austin is the better bet because he will be playing for one more, 3 year contract. Ther is no way that Murray is going to get another long term contact at this level. It may well be Murray's last season, but Austin has something to prove. It seems that Bright is ofski and the sooner we are able to get in a replacement the better. I would be happy to see Willock start ahead of Bright tomorrow.

I remember clearly in Aug 2015 Les Ferdinand coming out with a statement saying Charlie would be sold for less than 15 mill and then Southampton steal him for a paltry 4 mill which seems to be the case with a lot of players so I have learned to believe nothing he says he should never have been sold ,that being said would I like to have him back of course I would but I do worry about injury prone he is on another note how will we be able to afford his wages ? after all we are bargain basement shopping at the moment so how on earth can we suddenly be able to pay his wages don't forget we have been able to match what Bos wants I wait to see what happens here

The £15m was during the summer window. The £4m he went for was because it was the following January when he had 6 months left on his contract.

Chuffed you are back Marc.
As a 10 year daily visitor/OK, "lurker" I felt you were always a reasonable commentator on the club we are irrationally addicted to.
Very sad when the brouhaha erupted recently. (It must be the fault of that new fellow-me-of course!)
Would be great to have Ashdown and any others who left return.
Cheers....I hope you do the lineup announcements again.

Charlie Austin is in a different league to the jokers we are currently fielding up front. Very welcome IMO.

I just hope the Austin situation doesn't end up like the Mackie one. They both put in a full shift but it didn't quite happen so to speak.
