From the Sydney Morning Herald. Naturally I'd like him to represent Australia! From a purely selfish point of view, I'd rather he played for Scotland. We all remember the problem with Luongo when he came back from international duty.

Probably because Goode hasn't agreed terms yet, or something along those lines. Both clubs may have agreed to let him train with us though as a deal has been agreed between them and Goode looks likely to agree terms any day now perhaps?

I was getting concerned about the silence on the Dykes move but just realised that as an Australian it requires international clearance so I doubt we will get confirmation (if it happens) until late this week at the earliest. Still cannot understand why Goode is not announced yet if he is training with us. International clearance isn't required because he is Australian, but because he would be joining from a club outside of England. It used to apply to players leaving Cardiff, Swansea etc. until they became members of the FA instead the the FA of Wales. Coming from Scotland, this should be a formality. What he will also need is a work permit. That may take a little longer & could explain the delay. Others will know if this is transferable or whether it needs reewing with a change of employer.

Oh dear Norwich in for Hugill , gutted. With his wages, there is a very small pool of Championship teams who could actually take him permanently...and that's one of them.

www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-lyndon-dykes-personal-terms?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=socialnetworkDykes agrees personal terms ahead of QPR move By West London Sport 18/08/2020 Embed from Getty Images Lyndon Dykes has agreed personal terms ahead of his proposed move to QPR. The Australia-born forward, 24, is set to join the R’s from Livingston in a deal worth up to £2m. An offer for him was accepted by the Scottish club at the weekend. Dykes (pictured on the left above) has scored 14 goals in 36 appearances for Livingston. QPR have also been hoping to bring back Jordan Hugill from West Ham. However, Norwich have entered talks to sign the striker, who scored 15 goals while on loan at Loftus Road last season.

From WLS www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/blow-for-qpr-as-norwich-move-for-jordan-hugillBlow for QPR as Norwich move for HugillBy West London Sport 18/08/2020 Norwich are looking to sign Jordan Hugill. The Canaries, recently relegated from the Premier League, have entered talks with West Ham over a potential deal for Hugill to move to Carrow Road. He scored 15 goals during a season-long loan at QPR, who have been hoping to secure his return to west London. A permanent transfer is currently out Rangers’ reach unless West Ham include Hugill as part of any deal for Ebere Eze. The Hammers have expressed an interest in Eze but so far the only offer QPR have received for him has been from Crystal Palace. Rangers were therefore looking to set up another loan deal for Hugill, but the striker could now be heading to East Anglia.

Two players QPR NEED to sign - Patryk Klimala from Celtic, scores goals for fun and on a more serious note:
Liberato Cacace - a product of the Wellington Phoenix youth whom is attracting as much interest from Europe as Sapreet Singh did at Bayern. This guy plays Left Wingback. Can play LM or just LB too. But he is fantastically good. Get him whilst he would only cost a Mill or 2 with add ons. Get him now, because he will be a big name soon - Like Chris Woods.

Goode is a curious one. We were the first club to be linked with him. I cannot help but think that if he was our number one target then we could have got him. So perhaps, we only saw him as back up to Plan A and that the price was too high for back-up. He will only be back-up at Brentford but he has signed a 4 year deal with a fifth year option. I doubt we would commit to that level and pay £1m as well. I hope it means that our Plan A is still in place or that we have a Goode Plan B. See what I did there......

Also that’s how you get a deal over the line Finishing in promotion contention with more money to offer certainly helps, yeah.

Goode signing for Brentford in preference to us... sign of the times sadly. Still, we have no 'right' to be better than any other side in the Football League and have to earn credibility and respect in the game after our shambolic FFP debacle and time in the Prem. And I think we're doing that just fine.

Who’s next?? Dickie?? Personally I think the lad for Charlton on a free wouldn’t be a bad idea! Wages permitting.
Wells and Hugill both would have been great signings but not at those rates for us.
Good to have a striker that belongs to us.

I have terrible form on who I think good signings are, but I like this one. Bit odd, loves to battle CBs, confident, good age, likes holding the ball up and poaching.

I have terrible form on who I think good signings are, but I like this one. Bit odd, loves to battle CBs, confident, good age, likes holding the ball up and poaching. Time will tell bow, but it feels right to me! To be fair, we have little choice, this is the market that we shop at. If he was proven at Championship level, we could not afford him - as is the case with Hugill. It is a shame that Dykes will probably not get the chance to play with Eze and BOS, because although Hugill scored 15 last term, how many could he have scored if he did not lean back. Dukes could prove to be a better finisher than Hugill - or he could flop like Washington - but it the risk we have to take. It seems that Hugill's 15 goals in the Championship make him worth £5m and wages of up to his current £35k per week. Crazy stuff - but relegated clubs with parachutes will pay it in a gamble to bounce straight back. But I have to confess to being mighty relieved that we got this one over the line, because as others have said, it feels right and importantly, motivates for next season. And...he is ours, not a loan! Nice touch announcing his shirt number ( 9) as well. I am also pleased that we are going about our business ahead of the cash coming in. Now, Rob Dickie please, he can have the choice of the number 4 or number 6 shirts if it helps!

OK, Hugill looks in doubt and Eze and BOS look likely to leave.
What a chance for Chair and Smyth to step in, make starting places their own and linking up with the big man up front?
Could be a formidable strike force...
As for the defender we missed out on, well, we still have the BFG.

I think I would rather he was loaned out and we got someone else in if being totally frank. Real shame about Goode , think he would have been a real prospect, a Goody Goody yum yum ....
