I spent an hour and wrote a very long post yesterday on the merits of bringing in another CB and a no. 10 - must have signed out without hitting the post button though!
Still it would have been interesting reading but I'm not retyping it.
Meanwhile Forest need axing or if they spend enough the EFL might do it for them.
I cannot see Fulham letting us sign anyone - too close and not to a promotion contender.

Going back to my very long post the bottom line was we do not need to sign a keeper to cover Dieng, we keep our current 3CB's and hold Masterson as cover. We look for a cover for Chair who could take over if he is sold now or in the summer. Look for a versatile fullback/wing back Lots of arguments behind my comments but that was the summary. What went wrong with Danny Rose that Watford will release him during this window - is he a risk taking on a pay per play or 6 month contract?

Would add a proven striker to that list. A veteran CB if Dickie is indeed moved.

Seems we are looking at Ryan Giles 21 year old winger from Wolves on loan as replacement for Chair and squad improvement. He has been at Cardiff for the first half of the season and done very well but Wolves want him to spend time with a better Championship team nearer the top. Swansea and Huddersfield are also on his trail. That's interesting said the wall. Keep me up to date.

Strange one indeed especially as it is reported Kelman wanted to go back despite being frozen out before.
I hope this means we will keep hold of Armstrong, at least as cover with Gray going to Jamaica and maybe getting some time off the bench. It seems he has overtaken Kelman in the pecking order after doing well in his previous loan spell but Warburton will probably want him to get still more loan games under his belt. It would be great to see a young striker good enough to burst onto the scene without going through the 2 years of loans routine. There are young players who have done that in the PL and Championship so why can we not have one?

Defoe on a 5 month contract - super sub must be as good as Gray Just a thought. He just wants to play and does not need the cash.
I recall all the people on here a few years back saying he was over the hill when he was linked with us - did well since though didn't he.

From the Offie. Another young prospect. www.qpr.co.uk/news/under-23s-news/rafferty-pedder-joins-following-spurs-release-170122/Rafferty Pedder joins following Spurs releaseMatt Webb @qpr QPR Under-23s have moved to add midfielder Rafferty Pedder to their ranks following his release from Tottenham Hotspur. The 19-year-old - who had been on trial with the R's - joins on a contract until the end of the season. A right-footed central midfielder, Pedder worked his way up to Spurs' Under-23 side after joining the Lilywhites at a young age. He'll now be hoping to impress at QPR until the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign. Welcome and best of luck, Rafferty!

Not surprised and a parting would be in both the club and players interests. He has not broken through with us and his loans have not been great successes either despite starting a few off positively and then declining. I have a gut feeling the player has an attitude problem and may think he is better than he is but who knows. The interesting bit of the article is that there have been talks between "the two parties" and it seems to imply that the that means between the Swedish club and the player. As he is under contract I'm not sure that is strictly the best way to go about things unless we gave him permission or told him to find a new club. Maybe his agent should buy out the players contract, paying us what we would have to pay the player to the end of his contract and we release him - seems fair to me and then the agent can negotiate what he can with any interested clubs.

Send him to the Wellington Phoenix. We needed a wingback or two.

A good player and will give us more attacking impetus in midfield, but I get the impression this is a buy him cheap and offload him in the next season for a profit?

i think it more likely that Barbet is going home as he has said he wants to do that or De wijks will be relegated to get his fitness sorted.

medical today, on bench tomorrow? Probably too late for the paperwork - Saturday more likely and to give him time to meet and train with the rest of the team as well.

I read he can play CB and WB, that gives us competiton for places across the back line, extra cover and going to make it hard for Kakay to get a look in.

Not such a bad thing as good character but seems to be targeted as weak link and usually doesn’t disappoint! .. hate being negative about him but we need two new younger wingbacks. Uncle and Wallace aren’t getting any younger but feel without them we are likely to lose.

www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-focus-on-paterson-deal-as-lawrence-hopes-fade-and-there-could-be-departuresDave McIntyre says that the target is Paterson and that Ball, Thomas, Masterson & Hamalainen could depart. Although interest in Hamlainen seems less likely and I guess we should not hold out breath! Dom Ball lives quite near me, be interesting to see if he relocates - perhaps Luton or Milton Keynes beckons? But cannot blame players with expiring Summer contracts for seeking security. QPR not offering contract renewals until the end of the season.

QPR not offering contract renewals until the end of the season. Masterson loan - fine now we have brought in cover Hamalainen - a lower league team must be interested - if he will drop down. Not sure why we ever extended his contract TBH Ball - Makes sense for all concerned. He is well down the pecking order now and not getting any younger. He has done a good job for us but is playing at his limit Thomas - I keep saying he could make it and we need to see more of him to judge. But in the few chances he has had he put in the effort but did not really do well apart from his performance against Coventry. Obviously the coaches do not see any chance for him with us so only right to try to get a bit of cash, save his wages or free a spot and give him the chance of a fresh start. If we were to be promoted the only one of those 4 who we would want to retain is Masterson and even in the Championship he is the only one likely to be needed next season. So to be fair to the others best to let them go now rather than being in the growing unemployed free agent pot at the end of season.

Next question is will we loan out Jordy as WLS suggest and keep Ball as cover? Big mistake losing the big man .. we are strong contenders for playoffs and he could be very useful in run up.. ball ie capable but not an answer. I can see both sides to the discussion. We have a solid back 3 and have signed Sanderson as cover (and he can play further forward). If we keep Ball as cover for midfield and CB he would be 5th choice at CB. Jordy has hardly played any decent length of football since we signed him and he needs to get back to full match fitness and prove that he has overcome all his injury problems. He is not going to do that sitting on our bench and if we do need him later in the season can we be sure he would hold up for more than 45 minutes. That's a gamble. Sanderson is going to be looking for some game time and he is young fit and has been playing, so Jordy could still be 5th choice for us at CB although he does have more experience than some of the others. I would not want to break up our current defence just to give Jordy game time to prove his fitness so lending him out and seeing if he can get match fit and last the rest of the season is a good option. That will help us decide plans for next season. If he holds up and plays we can then hope he will be good for us next season, if he breaks down again we will need to be in the market in the summer for another CB or 2 at least with Barbet likely to go and decide if it is worth keeping Jordy or sell/loan him out again. We are not in the financial position to keep paying players who are never fit. We have had our fair share of medium to long term injuries this season and hope we do not have hat next season.
