We are not allowed to say anything that could offend anyone. Whether it be a view people agree with but are too afraid to say aloud so to speak. What this player said 9 years ago is very bad. I think we all agree on that. But that someone trolled back those 9 years is imho equally offensive. What all of us may or may not have said within the last 20 years cannot surely be brought up and thrown back in our faces. Times change and so too do attitudes. Hope that clears it up. Again, let's see what this guy can do on the football field for the club first and foremost. I do not know if he still holds those thoughts, others a lot closer would be able to confirm that. Perhaps he has changed?

You can say whatever you like but you just need to be able to grow a pair and deal with the consequences but I asked you for en example, not another sweeping generalism.

Seeing the list of clubs that are after him I think a loan might be our only option. Sir Les will have to use all his charm to get him permanent.

Steve Cook
QPR are looking to bring in Bournemouth centre-back Steve Cook, Football Insider reports.
Watford are also said to be keen on the 30-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
He has also recently been linked with Newcastle, having previously played under Magpies manager Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.
Is there anything in it?
QPR manager Mark Warburton is keen to bring in an experienced centre-back during next month’s transfer window and Cook is among the players identified as a potential signing.
Warburton wants to strengthen his options in that position partly because of Jordy de Wijs’ injury problems.

Cook is not a bad option but I think we would only get him if he was guaranteed to be a starter. With little hope of Jordy playing more than 2 games before getting injured I can see the need but if Cook plays who drops out. Dunne or maybe it's a sign that Barbet will be off in January. All quiet for the moment on Markanday but it's not clear to me where he would play. Surely not to replace Willock, temporary cover for Chair unlikely to attract him or would he be a wing back option, or just another one for the future ? Maybe just clickbait again.

So WBA want him as Hugill is out of form/favour. Maybe if WBA get Gondola WBA will lend us Hugill as cover. If we get neither, and Dykes and Charlie get crocked, we could be up the canal without a paddle...........'O Sole Mio........

www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-set-to-complete-signing-of-defender-cook?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=socialnetworkQPR set to complete signing of defender Cook By West London Sport 31/12/2021 Embed from Getty Images QPR look set to complete the signing of Bournemouth defender Steve Cook. A deal now appears to be in place for the 30-year-old to move to west London. Cook has made 388 appearances for the Cherries, featuring for them in the lower divisions and Premier League. But he has been out of favour this season under boss Scott Parker and his contract expires in the summer. He was not included in the matchday squad for Bournemouth’s recent win against the R’s because a move has been in the offing. Mark Warburton told West London Sport earlier this month that he was keen to bring in an experienced centre-back. Jordy de Wijs has been plagued by injuries since his move to the club and could be out until February with a calf problem. Manager Warburton is therefore keen to add a centre-back to his squad and does not believe Conor Masterson would be the answer at this stage of the young defender’s career given that Rangers are in the thick of the Championship promotion race. De Wijs, signed on a permanent deal during the summer, has not played since going off in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on 29 October – and has managed just 20 league starts during his 11 months at Rangers. Warburton currently has other options in the centre of defence but one or two other injuries in addition to De Wijs’ propensity to miss matches could create a problem in a key area during a crucial stage of the campaign. Masterson, 23, is on loan at Cambridge United until January and Warburton believes he should complete the season away from W12. Warburton thinks highly of him but has long been keen for Masterson, who had no first-team experience prior to being signed in July last year after being released by Liverpool, to spend a significant period of time out on loan. A loan spell at Swindon last season, which was seen as vital to Masterson’s football education, was cut short by a nasty hamstring injury. He has impressed when he has featured for QPR but just has 33 league starts to his name. With the stakes so high for Rangers, who have a realistic chance of reaching the Premier League, Warburton wants a more seasoned defender to boost the squad. “Young players need to go out on loan to develop,” Warburton said. “Conor’s is a really good loan so far. He’s playing in League One week in, week out, and getting good experience. It’s great development for a young defender. “Now, if QPR are in a good position and want to push, do we want a young defender and take him away from a good loan, or do we want to look at it and say that we may need to go into the market in January and get someone experienced to come in and add another level of quality to us? QPR defender Conor Masterson Warburton was keen to get Masterson out on loan “Are we just going to fill gaps or are we looking to push on? “I think enormously of Conor, so that’s nothing derogatory in any shape or form. “But a young defender has gone out on a perfect loan and is doing really well. I’m delighted to see it. He’s enjoying his football and getting experience. “Do we change that? Do we spoil that loan? If it’s an emergency then we’ll do what we have to do for QPR. But right now, are QPR going to have a go, push, or are we happy to just try and fill holes and get jerseys on the pitch?”

For a very understated manager who keeps expectations down this article about signing a centre back is the closest Warburton has come to saying we are going for it.
Good luck Warbs, you’ve made a lot of good calls (not all, but most of them) and I trust your judgement here too.

I posted earlier that I thought any business apart from Cook would be people we have not really been linked with and Palmer fits the bill. Obviously we see something in him and must have been scouting him for some time if talks have been ongoing for a few weeks as reported. If we can get him for free as suggested even better. As well as Chair being at AFCON there is always the chance someone could come in with a bid for him now or in the summer so signing Palmer for free as cover now is not a bad idea. Bristol have their FFP situation to sort out and need to shift players off the payroll in January and with Pearson in charge I can imagine big changes. Reading between the lines it seems he is talented but maybe not the hard running type Pearson likes. There are hints he is not happy there and maybe not pulling his weight in training so a fresh start back in London with motivation under the right management could work well. While Palmer has not made the City team under Pearson, 5 million signing Wells is also finding it hard to get off the bench so I do not read too much into it - maybe we can have Wells on a free as well Also see that Barnes has gone to Yeovil on a temporary loan due to come back before the window closes. Could be a trial pending a transfer or we want him back to sell or loan out for the season during the window

Could be a trial pending a transfer or we want him back to sell or loan out for the season during the window Not so much scouting I suspect, more that Palmer plays for Paul Hall's Jamaica team. Pearson is border line psychotic - everywhere he has been he has these massive fall outs with either players or owners. City paid over £3m for Palmer and he is one of their highest earners. I cannot think of another manager who would not have thrown Wells on from the bench Thursday. Likewise, the keeper who won them the game in W12, and captain, was benched. It seems that it is his way or be frozen out. Palmer is quite a big risk, depending on wages, but probably a free signing. Suggestions of attitude, but who can blame him with Pearson. I wonder how Nahki is feeling??? Cover for Chair, but what does that say about Thomas? I think Bentley will depart this window together with any high earners they can shift and anyone that Pearson just doesn't like.

Old Age - I posted the below on the wrong thread earlier:
So Forest are in with a late offer to try to grab Cook from under our noses. Typical but if he goes for the money on one hand I cannot blame him looking for a last pay day but on the other hand says he may not be our sort. No doubt Forest can offer him more cash and maybe a fee to Bournemouth but I question where they will be with FFP if their seeming gamble to reach the PL does not work. They have a large squad and they already signed another striker yesterday from Villa so their wage bill must be mounting.
Interesting that Sky reported us being very close to a deal with Bristol City for Palmer and then pulled the story an hour later. Maybe they were asked to by us to stop another deal being lost.
Time will tell.

No journalist will ever hold back a story just because we don’t want clubs alerted to our targets. It would have been leaked by the players agent anyway who will be seeking clubs to compete and drive up the best deal
Interesting to see Jack Wilshire getting more desperate to find a club that he is supposedly considering a move to Brazil. Other than his probable high wages demands and terrible injury record he is class.

Just to have someone of that quality training will raise the quality of the other players.

Typical I hear Charlie has been training as a CB Not sure but did Field or McCullum also play at the back? There must be some decent PL experienced CB's out there we could get on loan but I'm struggling to name any. Suddenly I feel our top priority now has to be to keep our whole squad together and any new signings will be a bonus. Hopefully Cook's move has just doubled our asking price for Dickie.

Forest always get our targets, like Derby they constantly spend and have huge squads every season. How they failed to get promoted every year in the last decade beats me with the money they throw at it. Really hope they fail to reach the play offs again this year.

Was going to suggest Phil Jones on loan from Man U only to be gobsmacked that he played for them today and was rated their best player (albeit in an overall dreadful performance).

I believe his header helped towards the Wolves goal?? True but it was harsh on him. He wasn’t great, just better than the shambles around him.

How about Neco Williams, Wales international right full back /wing back young hungry, contract runs out in the summer and backed to make amove by the Wales manager, now looking to leave Liverpool in January to get game time and push his spot with Wales. Must be better than Furlong. Answers on a post card to Santa, Greenland (no stamp required) - no need to trouble the board.

www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-could-go-for-dean-but-fulham-duo-look-out-of-reachQPR could go for Dean after missing out on Cook By David McIntyre 05/01/2022 QPR could turn to Harlee Dean after being pipped to the signing of Steve Cook. A deal was agreed for Cook to join the R’s from Bournemouth, but he backed out of the move after a late offer from Nottingham Forest. Manager Mark Warburton is keen to bring in an experienced centre-back during this month’s transfer window and the club are therefore looking into other potential options. They would like to bring in either Michael Hector or Alfie Mawson from Fulham. However, Fulham have indicated that they would not be open to a deal at this stage. Birmingham City’s Dean, 30, is attracting interest from a number of other Championship clubs and QPR are now considering making an offer for him. Dean, who is under contract at St Andrew’s until the summer of 2023, was signed for Brentford by Warburton in 2012. He then played under him after Warburton took over as manager, having previously been the Bees’ sporting director. Number 10 wanted Meanwhile, with Ilias Chair representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, Rangers are looking to bring in someone who can act as short-term cover, and in the longer term a viable alternative, given how reliant they have been on their number 10. They are not interested in Kasey Palmer, though. Palmer has been strongly linked with a move to W12 and Bristol City are open to selling the former Chelsea man. Several clubs have been sounded out about their potential interest, including QPR, but he is not a transfer target. Keeper a possibility As well as Chair, Rangers have also lost keeper Seny Dieng to Afcon and his absence from the side for as long as Senegal are involved in the tournament is a concern. Back-up keeper Jordan Archer is set to play in Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Rotherham and a strong performance might convince the club’s hierarchy not to pursue alternative cover for Dieng. West Brom’s David Button, who also played under Warburton at Brentford, was a potential option before the Baggies’ first-choice keeper Sam Johnstone was suspended for three matches after being sent off for violent conduct in a recent match against Cardiff.
